Question

Hi everyone,

I am planning to purchase server from softlayer and billing & complete automation software from WHMCMS.

I checked their demo thoroughly and here is my questions:

1. I am planning to sale .ae , .pk, .my, .com.my domains also. How to configure these TLD? and how can i find that who are their registrars or resellers?

2. I need to have an account with onlinenic, so that when customer register their domain name with my company , WHMCHS will automatically handle the customer request and register the domain with onlinenic, am I right?

Thanks

1. I am planning to sale .ae , .pk, .my, .com.my domains also. How to configure these TLD?

configuring and pricing are covered here (including videos) - http://docs.whmcs.com/Domains_Configuration

and how can i find that who are their registrars or resellers?

Google will help you there... just search for .ae domains or .my domains etc

2. I need to have an account with onlinenic, so that when customer register their domain name with my company , WHMCHS will automatically handle the customer request and register the domain with onlinenic, am I right?

if you want the registration process automated, then you will need an account with one or more registrars - that doesn't necessarily have to be onlinenic... it might be easier if you choose one that offers the tld's that you want to resell... I think OpenSRS will sell all the above tlds (apart from .pk), but checkout the list of built-in registrars below for all the alternatives.

Thanks for your reply, I checked OpenSRS their prices are high as compared to onlinenic.com

that's true - but they handle the domains that you want to resell and I don't think onlinenic do... you could use onlinenic for the standard tlds, com, net etc, and opensrs for your asian ones (ae and my)... you don't necessarily just have to use one registrar for all tlds.

Can you recommend any other re-seller company?

we only use OpenSRS for our tld's, so i've not only limited experience of the others...

when you signup with WHMCS, you can also get access to some of their partners - including two registrars, Enom and Resellerclub...

http://www.whmcs.com/partners/

the one thing to remember is that if you want to automate the registrations for these tlds (.ae, .my & .pk), you will need to find a registrar that has a WHMCS module - http://docs.whmcs.com/Domain_Registrars

the list in the link above will all work with WHMCS, but they might not necessarily sell your tld's - you'll have to check each of them.

if you find a reseller that doesn't have a WHMCS module, then you will either have to check the forums/appstore to see if a module is available, or if it hasn't, pay someone to create a module for you (which might not always be possible).

Hi, I am now almost 80% clear with my confusion only one thing left.

I searched a lot how to register .ae, .my & .pk and i found that there is no direct API available for registration. Domain registration companies provide these TLDs in their website then they took orders from customer and register TLD manually from registrar or resellers website. if i talk about .pk domain the registrar is http://pknic.net.pk/ , anyone can create account pay them and get your domain registered but all you have to do manually, same practice is with .ae & Malaysian domains.

My question is how to check http://www.mycompanyname.com.pk is available or not? I have to add a registrar in WCHMs software or what? once I get the positive result how to get the order from customer? how those domains will work whose direct API is not available.?

For example check this company's URL http://www.hostndomain.com/

Thanks

AGL

Hi, I am now almost 80% clear with my confusion only one thing left.

I searched a lot how to register .ae, .my & .pk and i found that there is no direct API available for registration. Domain registration companies provide these TLDs in their website then they took orders from customer and register TLD manually from registrar or resellers website. if i talk about .pk domain the registrar is http://pknic.net.pk/ , anyone can create account pay them and get your domain registered but all you have to do manually, same practice is with .ae & Malaysian domains.

when using the registrar, OpenSRS, I could register .ae and .my domains automatically through their API, so I would therefore be able to do it through WHMCS if I wanted to.

you previously mentioned Webnic - they seem to offer .my and .pk domains, so perhaps you could use them to register these tlds ? it might be worth contacting them directly if you want to confirm that.

My question is how to check www.mycompanyname.com.pk is available or not? I have to add a registrar in WCHMs software or what? once I get the positive result how to get the order from customer? how those domains will work whose direct API is not available.?

by default, I don't think WHMCS can't search for .pk domains - though that can be easily fixed by modifying a file called whoisservers.php and adding .pk tlds to the list.

once added, then you will need to setup your pricing for these tlds - customers can only search for tlds you have added their pricing... you can then assign each tld to a registrar if you want to automate the registration, or to none if you just want to receive the order and you will manually register the domain later.

for those that have no direct API, it doesn't matter as long as you can use an existing WHMCS Registrar that uses its own - so OpenSRS could register .ae & .my; Webnic could register .my and .pk etc...

have you had a play with the demo version yet?
