Letter from Google saying WHMCS doesn't comply

I read through this and did not see an explanation of how to do this, so I will just post my experience with google checkout on a different platform.

Basically how you collect the customer information is by having google checkout post it back to your cart (or whmcs) in xml.

So, the customer never gives you information directly but does give it to google checkout. Then when they complete their checkout at google, the google server will post back to a pre-defined script that you have set up for them. That script takes the posted info from google and puts it in the appropriate database locations, and you now have all the customer information related to the transaction.

If you want a good example to look at for ideas on integrating google checkout with WHMCS, check out the google checkout module for osCommerce, specifically the responsehandler.php file:

we havent had any problems with them, we had a heck of a time setting it up though, then after getting ssl installed and all that we , knock on wood, simply process like normal, and they send our funds out within 3 days.

(off topic)we just started taking paypal again as they still have 12,000. of ours in a frozen account. hopefully this will all work out.

Matt can you please check our site and verify that we are doing things correctly also..

Thanks.. man we have some real smart people in here....love it!

peace

Dear Matt,

Last September [09-26-07], you noted:

I would prefer to be able to talk this over with someone from Google before taking any steps possibly incorrect.

There was no follow up to that post. Has there been no response from Google Checkout? You would think that regardless of how BIG Google is, they would not want discussions like this one sitting out there undermining their new business.

I have been in testing stage for the past week and have processed several payments with them. I cannot risk my good working relationship with them to have problems with my shopping cart. I wish there was some way of getting to Google to ask them about this problem. I do know that it basically impossible to find a telephone number or an email address for them.

Frenchtowner,

Thank you for bumping this thread. I wasn't aware of this until I came across your post.

At this point, we're not utilizing the Google checkout logos but I had it on my checklist of things to do.

Uberhost, you mentioned that you used the Google Checkout button in your Adwords campaign. Did Google ever take issue with that?

Thanks!

Only when I first set it up. An account rep from Google wanted to see a a pay now button that did not require logging in to use, so I created a small hosting package with a pay now button. That satisfied her, so I left it up a while then finally deleted it, but I've been using AdWords with the logo since.

Readywire,

You are welcome for the bump, but I really was just trying to be careful and make sure that this was not going to be a problem for my new hosting and design business. I never heard from Matt here on the forum so I posted a support ticket about this. I was assured that nobody has mentioned this as being problematic for over a year now. That was very good news and I was very happy .................... Until ..................

Yesterday I got an email from Google Checkout about my first sale. They said there were some problems with my setup so I wrote them back and then this morning I got this email:

Hello *********,

*********..........................*********

First, I'm not too sure as to why you're unable to use Google Checkout for

your earlier service. If you could give me more details I'll forward the

issue to our specialists.

Second, I understand that the description is clearly provided when the

buyer adds it on to his cart, however, it isn't showing up on the

confirmation page. Because your shopping cart provider has integrated

your Google Checkout solution, they are best able to address the causes of

this issue.

Third, I've reviewed your website and see that your website has

been integrated with Google Checkout. However Google Checkout buttons on

your website have been placed after registration or sign-in pages.

As outlined in our program policies at

https://checkout.google.com/seller/policies.html you must ensure Google

Checkout buttons are available on your website before registration or

sign-in pages.

After you update your site, please respond to this message so we can

confirm the changes.

You may also wish to check your website against our Integration Checklist

at https://checkout.google.com/support/sell/bin/answer.py?answer=72125 as

following these guidelines will ensure a positive buyer experience.

Sincerely,

*********

The Google Checkout Team

I have not written them back yet and I am not too happy with them anyway. Paypal integrates with WHMCS beautifully and simply. Google Checkout is allot more work and simply does not integrate as well. (My first customer got an unpaid invoice notice even though her account was charged because Google's Checkout does not notify WHMCS when the payment has cleared)

I will just simply drop Google Checkout if this continues to be a problem. I am one of Google's biggest fans, but this is not going well for me right now.

I hear you, Google Checkout can be a pain in the ass at first. If you want to use it, just stick a special offer on your home page with a Google Checkout payment button and let them take a look at your site again.

Uber,

I will try that. I will put a special offer on the homepage and on the hosting page to make them especially happy. Are you using Paypal and Google?

FT

Yes, PayPal and Google Checkout. Once you get going with Google Checkout then you can do as you wish. The worst they've ever done to me is take away my checkout badges in my AdWords campaigns, lol.

Between Google's lame rules and WHMCS outright breaking them, it makes it hard for us. :|

even if you do follow their TOS, accounts still get frozen. case in point, three years ago, i was doing some business with folks on paypal.

id transfer money from bank account to paypal, make purchase, account goes back to zero.

money comes into paypal, i immed. transfer it out to bank account. they frooze my account saying that it appeared strange that money was coming and going so quickly in my account.

account was frooze permantly, and they never did unfreeze it. finally after nearly sueing them and screaming at the top of my lungs, they allowed me to open a new account.

lost 250$ in the account that was froozen.

nothing in their TOS states i cant move money in and out of the account as i see fit. but the account still got froozen.

Im probably a little late in this reply but in short,

it looks like money laundering.

Im sure this wasnt the case but thats what it looks like,

and you can ask your bank, if that were to continually happen there they would question it,

only difference is they are face to face with you

that may be true, however, i dont have a paypal card because i dont like leaving my money sit in an account i use for no other purpose other than accepting credit cards.

forgot about this thread honestly, but i got my money back, finally. i had my lawyer send them a notice of intent to file small claims suite, and within a week, i got my money back. was pretty happy :) sadly it cost me 75$ to have my lawyer do that for me.. and he didnt do anything other than provide a piece of paper and a signature. i typed it all up, he barely had to do anything! lol
