configurable option pricing issues

Recommended Posts

I have created a product

created a configurable option group

added a "quantity" option to that group with monthly and annual pricing

But when I select this product in the cart it says it is free.

If I add the product and specify a quantity, it is still free and shows the cart total as ZERO.

have I missed something ?

Thanks John that was it.

I am still a little confused about setting the pricing on products that have configurable options.

If I do not set a price on the product itself then you must use the configurable options to get the price which is correct, but the "billing cycle" dropdown is empty, so I cannot choose yearly or monthly.

If I set the price as 0.00 the billing cycle dropdown appears but it shows price as £0.00 which implies it is free and I know customers will be confused by this..

But if I do enter a price here, this gets added to price set in the configurable options, which is wrong.

How can I use the billing cycle and ONLY the configurable option pricing?

There are several possible "fixes" or changes to make ...

First is you should set the "base" price and periods on the product.

If you really do have a zero priced product, which has the real cost determined by config options, put the minimum price in and then have a hidden config option for -ve of the same amount

etc.

The system is remarkably flexible and very powerful, you just have to "think" how to do things a bit differently :D
