SL-Host
Ok Folks, this is probably the dumbest question on WHMCS, but after looking at the forum for an hour, I don't see this mentioned. Maybe I overlooked it. By the way, I love WHMCS. It's powerful and reliable !!! I've used WHMCS for 2 years with Authorize.net and eOnlineData card processing. Now I am switching to Google Checkout. Thus, I am familiar with these types of setup procedures. After setting up Google Checkout, I am baffled as to why I don't see the usual "Attempt Payment" button on the invoice form. Instead the button reads "Send Invoice Created Email" ? I thought I would be able to use Google Checkout in the same way to automatically process payments. It seems that I have the integration API setup properly and the callback is correct, but not sure what stupid thing I'm doing wrong. Anyone else have that issue before?
Daniel
Google Checkout doesn't allow you to charge cards in that way, your clients would need to manually process the payment through the client area.
SL-Host
Thank you Daniel. Gee, that's a bummer. The Google site was leading me to believe it could do that via the API. Seems strange that I would need to enter Merchant ID and Merchant Key in WHMCS if it wasn't going to connect to the API to process a payment. I thought it was WHMCS that isn't working right. I'm wondering what is the point of having Google payment in WHMCS if it isn't going to use the API. I sure don't want my customers to have to go to Google every month to pay their bill. Perhaps I need to try something else. again, thanks for your opinion.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted July 20, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted July 20, 2010 WHMCS does use the API to send the payment information to Google when the client clicks the payment button and receive the confirmation of payment to record the transaction in WHMCS. However as Google is a Third Party Gateway the client always needs to manually visit their website to make payment. If you want to store and charge a client's credit card at will you will require a Merchant Gateway: http://wiki.whmcs.com/Payment_Gateways

I was wondering about that and you cleared it up. I would have hoped that Google could have a means to work like Quantum Data or eOnline Data where I could process payments inside WHMCS, but guess there are not there yet.
