bear
We usually stay a build or two behind, until the bold ones shake the bugs and nasties out. The only exception is if the build we're on has an exploit.
timgws
I would recommend staying on 5.2 for a little while longer. 5.3 has had a lot of changes done to the insides of it (the reason that IonCube and Zend extensions took so long to come out. IonCube *did* have one released just when 5.3 came out, but they pulled it a few days later)

Wiredremix
We are running 5.3.2 on production servers with no problems now. We had a small issue with whmcs but was quickly fixed with a addition of a folder on the modules folder. You can find the information here http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=28776

Ashley.S.
I'm still running the latest version of the 5.2.x branch, and probably will do for a while, unless php suddenly announce EOL for it
