ScrltOTara
Hi: I have my servers set up in WHM to redirect SSL to the host name, so when people click on the cpanel link in their client area, I want the IP address that WHM defaults to, to forward to the server name. Otherwise they get a certificate error because the cert is not for the IP address, it's for the host name. I'm not sure why WHMCS always connects via the IP address, but is there a way to fix this? Thanks, Tara
plusplushosting
As far as i know WHMCS is not connect via the IP, in which URL you have installed WHMCS? do you have the ssl for that domain?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted April 1, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted April 1, 2010 You could enter the hostname in the IP Address field under Setup > Servers > Edit.
ScrltOTara
I could, but it makes more sense that it should redirect to the host name in WHMCS since that's where the SSL cert will be. It doesn't. It goes by the IP address which will ALWAYS generate the SSL warning error.

ScrltOTara
Yes, you can get an SSL cert for the host name, I have it on all my servers.

Thanks, Tara The main server? Or their host name with SSL? Not exactly clear on your intent. Perhaps take a look at my discussion on HostGator Forums? http://forums.hostgator.com/ssl-question-do-need-wildcard-cert-t65838.html?t=65838
ScrltOTara
I can't see your post because I'm not a host gator reseller. Basically, when a client logs in to WHMCS and goes to their hosting account, and clicks on the "cpanel login" button, it goes t the server IP address, which throws an SSL error because the SSL cert is for the server NAME not the IP address. I want it to log into the server name.
