suprahost
the problem continues and I received this reply from onlinenic Please be informed that your ip was not blocked here. And it is ok, the problem may caused by port 20001, since telneting http://www.onlinenic.com 20001 get connection failed. So we suggest that you may change the port to 30009, and it works well. Thanks for your cooperation. How to change port 20001 in 30009 in WHMCS please ?

I received this from onlinenic > We are very sorry for inconvenience caused on you, it may be unstable connection at that period. And please be informed that it is ok now, please check. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding. > However I recommend WHMCS developers to give us possibilities to use port 30009 in replacement of 20001 in case the problem repeat . Or if WHMCS could use automatically port 30009 in case of 20001 is not responding could be fantastic too.

Lawrence
Nobody should be using OnlineNIC anymore anyways. They are clearly going under thanks to the lawsuit from Verizon, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are stripped of their registrar status soon too.

We also had no way to use OnlineNIC, but I did some research (we've been through this many times before) and found the fiber backbone outside of Texas where OnlineNic's server farm is located was accidental damaged in a dig-up. So all the routing by the www was down to the whole southwest area. We conducted a ping test (failed) then a traceRT and found it timed out just before Texas. Then we called a fiber rescue friend we work with and they said there was a outage due to some construction company not getting locates before they dug. Really dumb! So there was over a 2 day outage. By the way, OnlineNIC's support is over seas now! No longer in Oakland, CA. The last time I knew of an cut fiber was a US West cable and it cost the contractor 1 million an hour in loss communication time, he only had a 5 million insurance bond. He was broke in after the 5th hour.
