Invalid TLD/Registration Period Supplied for Domain Registration
HostBizLng replied to mehdit's topic in Using WHMCS
Hello, graphtech, You said that the problem is with the custom template? And that everything is ok when you get all the *domains.tpl from the new default template and paste it in the custom template? Does this applies only for upgrades from v3 to v4? I have v4 new install and have the issue with this error, and it comes from transfer/pricing, disabled years/options for transfer, consequently shopping cart allows to choose disabled years and I get the same error message. Further more, I cannot access/view shopping cart after that error message. Can you please share exactly what's wrong with templates? And what is set to default in those templates? So I can check mine. twinbros, I did try to test shopping cart (especially with transfering domains) with many other browsers, but get the same issue. I guess for me it is not a FireFox incompatibility problem. Sincerely, Serg -
Domain transfers - shopping cart problem
HostBizLng replied to HostBizLng's topic in General Discussion
isdoo, Here's other thing that I see as odd, so you say that .co.uk does not add anything to transfered .co.uk domains, because since .co.uk is 2 year domain, and shopping cart allows me to procedd with .co.uk transfer only if transfer price is set for 2 years (together with Register/Renewal prices), then after proceeding to shopping cart what customer will see? Customer will see his transfer domain.co.uk - 2 Years and price that had been set to what? To 2 years of registration? Or to 2 years of registration + transfer fee? Or just a transfer fee ? This is just massed up Btw, as I mentioned I browsed other hosts who use WHMCS, so there was other thing I noticed and that some hosts just do not offer domain transfers at all. I guess that would solve this issue. By not using one of the fundamental features. Sincerely, Serg -
Domain transfers - shopping cart problem
HostBizLng replied to HostBizLng's topic in General Discussion
Hello, chickendippers, In my initial post in this thread I explained my issue in every detail, that shopping cart gives disabled (-1.00) year options and allows customer to choose them and proceed, and at the end we get error message, and after error message shopping cart becomes impotent, I mean you cannot access/view it at all. Have you at least read my post? I am not going to repeat myself my initial post was long and detailed enough, haha ... that was actually my idea to make my post very, I mean very detailed, hopping it would be easier for you guys to understand the problem. isdoo, I decided to check .co.uk at random, and I did not tried to transfer an actual .co.uk domain, but to check how shopping cart would behave with any domain/TLD that has minimum 2 years of registration set in domain pricing. And just because .co.uk has different transfer conditions, it doesn't mean my question does not apply to other minimum 2 year registration domain/TLDs. The issue is with transfer pricing and shopping cart (unwanted) behavior. But thank you though for correcting me about .co.uk, I would would definitely read their Terms and Conditions to double check it. Thank you for your input guys! But waiting for more, because I still don't know what to do. Sincerely, Serg -
Domain transfers - shopping cart problem
HostBizLng replied to HostBizLng's topic in General Discussion
An update to my initial post: I tried to transfer domain/TLD with minimum 2 years of registration, like .co.uk, where transfer price is set for 1 year, but shopping cart did not allowed me to transfer it at all, because I did not have an option to transfer a domain that has 2 year minimum registration, and transfer price is set for 1 year, where it should be, correct me if I am wrong. Isn't transfer price adds only 1 year to completed domain transfer? Thought of resolution, and the only quick fix, or more like workaround, is to try to set transfer prices for all years/options (if used for certain Domain/TLDs), just like Register/Renewal prices. The only concern that I had initially about doing it this way, is that I am not sure how WHMCS/my registrar will process a transfer that have been ordered for more than 1 year. Isn't transfers are just transfers, and like I said many times, and read about how transfers work - and that is, 1 year is added to completed transfer? How then will this work? When I was browsing other hosts that use WHMCS and checking how their shopping cart behaves with transfers/prices, I did noticed that some hosts have transfer prices set for more than 1 year and up to 10 years. So I guess it might be working for them. Anyone having an input about this workaround? Sincerely, Serg -
Hi, I don't know what exactly do you mean, but I checked my V4 installation (new install) and I found RSS feed link on Announcements page. Should it be anywhere else? Sincerely, Serg

Domain transfers - shopping cart problem
HostBizLng replied to HostBizLng's topic in General Discussion
An update to my initial post: 1. I use V4 (new install, NOT an upgrade!) 2. I tried to check other web hosts who use WHMCS, and tried to test their shopping carts, and I noticed that some have set transfer prices for all years/options available in WHMCS, while others did not, but their shopping cart does not allow customer to proceed when a customer selects those disabled/blank transfer/years options. And a lot of hosts actually do have the same issue I have (I am not alone !). I still don't know what to do though. Impatiently waiting for input on this issue. Sincerely, Serg -
Hello, I don't know if anyone have the same thing, but here is the issue that I experience with domain transfers: For most of my domain pricing I used an option to offer discounts with more years of registration (depending on minimum and maximum years allowed for registration for any given TLD) For example: .com TLD - Register/Renewal 1 year (15.95), 2 years (29.90), 3 years (41.85), 4 years (51.80), 5 years (59.75), etc. (6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 years accordingly.) Now as I understand, (I might be wrong, since I am new to this process,) domain transfer ins have one set price, which is, in most cases, a price of one year of domain registration. So according to my above pricing example, .com domain transfer ins would be (ex.:15.95,) which includes an additional year of registration upon completion of transfer. In Setup>Domain Pricing (within WHMCS) I configured Registration/Renewal prices for all available years (ex. above: .com TLD 1-10 years,) except Transfer prices where only one Transfer price applies (ex.:15.95,) which is entered on first year only, and all other years for Transfer prices is disabled and set to -1; (... all other years which I used only for Register/Renewal discounted prices.) The problem with shopping cart: When I try to transfer a domain, after checking availability, shopping cart gives me years of transfer options (which is odd). With above .com TLD examples it looks like this: 1 Year/s @ 15.95 2 Year/s @ 3 Year/s @ 4 Year/s @ 5 Year/s @ And up to 10 Year/s @ As you can see, shopping cart gives a transfer option for more years, even though they are disabled (and those options are blank - without any price.) Moreover, shopping cart allows to choose those disabled years and allows to proceed to the next step, where customer have to enter EPP code and other addons/configurations. But as I proceed forward to the next step, I am getting an error message - Invalid TLD/Registration Period Supplied for Domain Registration. Once I get this error message, I am unable to remove wrong domain transfer product from shopping cart, because I am unable to access/view shopping cart at all, and I receive that error message every time I try to access/view shopping cart. I did try to start a thread about this error and found similar thread in this forum posted by other user, but without any practical resolution/suggestion on how to fix this, (and in my case I need to find the way to fix a cause explained above, about transfer pricing configuration.) While browsing other posts about this error message, somebody mentioned that it is FireFox incompatibility, but I tested domain transfers on many other browsers (FireFox, Mac Opera, IE, Google Chrome, etc.,) and shopping cart still behaves in the same way on all of the tested browsers. I was thinking about setting transfer prices with more years options, but I don't know how WHMCS/my registrar (eNom) would process transfers with more than one year options (available within WHMCS shopping cart.) If transfers are processed with one year added to registration after completion of transfer regardless of what years options customer chooses within WHMCS shopping cart, I don't mind to manually renew/add additional years to the transfered domain that customer payed for. But if transfer price that for example is set to 5 Year/s @ 59.75 would be processed as transfer (one year added to domain) + 5 years of additional registration, then the price in itself is wrong, because 15.95 (transfer price) + 59.75 (additional 5 years price) = 75.70. If anyone tried to use or know how transfers processed with more year/price options, please let me know, I would truly appreciate. Anyone having any thoughts, suggestions, or resolutions to share on this issue? Plus, I haven't tested other TLDs with some Register/Renewal/Transfer prices/years disabled (set to -1,) and something tells me that shopping cart would behave with disabled years options in the same manner. I don't know how for others, but for me this is a big issue. Please check your WHMCS shopping cart and see if you having the same problem. If yes, please join me in this thread to discuss resolutions to this. If you read similar forum post with practical suggestion/resolution on how to fix it, post it here. Thanks guys. Thank you! Serg

Invalid TLD/Registration Period Supplied for Domain Registration
HostBizLng replied to mehdit's topic in Using WHMCS
Hello graphtech, In my case it is v4 new install, it's not an upgrade. It just when i was testing how transfers work the transfer price is set only for first year, all the other transfer price years options are disabled, (because as I understand there's one set price for transfers,) but while checking out the shopping cart still gives me a drop down menu with year options that were disabled, and lets me choose those options, which leads to this kind of error (Invalid TLD/Registration Period Supplied for Domain Registration) The error disappears when transfer price is set for all years options. I was thinking to set the price for each available transfer years option in WHMCS and if a customer transfers a domain for 5 years for example, and my registrar adds only a year to transfer domain, I would just add 4 additional years to domain manually. Do you think this would work? Thank you! Serg -
Invalid TLD/Registration Period Supplied for Domain Registration

Hello graphtech, I have the same problem. I just started new thread http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=20155 but found yours later. Can you please share with us how we can fix this problem. Thank you! Serg -
Hello, After much thought, I made a decision to start from scratch, since I don't have much in the old database after a month of work, trials and errors, (still it feels like entire month went to waist, or I should look at it as more like a "learning experience"). I am new to WHMCS, Hosting business and managed web services in general, and while configuring V3 I know I made lots of mistakes and was planning to come back to fix them. Well now I should use it as a chance to start from scratch and do it right, where I made mistakes earlier. Nevertheless, concerning database restoration, it is very important in emergency cases, and no one is immune from those emergency times when db restoration is inevitable. I will try to start a new thread as part of my research for sources of information to learn how-to do it and to learn all possible options of doing it. I guess it is an important learning experience I went through. vT16, I will consider your suggestion as one of the major options, it does actually make sense and sounds like it should work. Thank you! Anyway, very happy with all the new features and updates V4 brought to us. Looking forward to use it to the fullest and looking forward to more upgrades and more versions of WHMCS, truly great system! Thank you! Sincerely, Serg

Hello, I am a little confused now, well it was my mistake, was so excited to upgrade to V4 that I forgot to follow instructions, and by mistake removed V3completely and tried to install V4 from scratch, but then realized, and Matt told me too, that I cannot import data from my v3 db to v4 db. I don't know why thougH, ... Anyway, Matt suggested to restore v3 db and then follow the upgrade instructions. But now does it mean I have to re-install v3 with new db? because I am getting an error I got with v4 when trying to install with populated db. So now I am thinking to install v3 with new blank db, and restore backup into it, before upgrading. The only thing is I don't really know how to restore backup isdoo mentioned above about SSH commands for backing up and restoring backed up db, mysqldump -uusername -ppassword databasename > databasename.sql If you need to restore the database use... mysql -h localhost -uusername -ppassword databasename < databasename.sql do you think those commands will do the job? Or do I need something else? I guess it's a learning experience for me. It's just sometimes I am getting so impatient to begin that I always forget to follow the instructions. Sincerely, Serg

Hello Pima, You are right, I was talking without attempting to be part of this or investigating deep enough to make a decision. But nevertheless, thank you for your last post and for trying to be clear and to the point to all of us, who had second thoughts. I think I would give it a shot and try to look at it as it is, a "start." And every 'start' needs improvements - I would be glad to contribute. Sincerely, Serg

Hello, Does eNom Extended would have to be re-installed completely after upgrade from v3.8.2 to v4? Thank you! Serg

Questions about future upgrade from v3.8.2 to v4

Thank you chickendippers, I'll be sure to review v4 release notes. Have a wonderful time! Sincerely, Serg -
Hi Jozeph, Would you be so kind to let me know what GeoTrust partner levels are integrated/supported in your module, since GeoTrust has different partner/reseller levels and contracts. Thank you! Serg

Hello gei, Just moment ago I posted a similar thread (http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=19880), wondering if I should stop configuration work on v3.8.2, since it takes a lot of my time and effort, and I am afraid it would go to waist after upgrade to v4, since v4 has a lot of changes, additions, and improvements. Be sure to check my thread for replies and I will check yours too. Hopefully we will get helpful replies from users who already upgraded and tested v4. Sincerely, Serg

Greetings, I have a question about future upgrade from v3.8.2 to v4, when it's going to be released and available. I am a new to WHMCS, and currently working full force (and long hours) on configuring everything in v3.8.2, but after reading the feature list and changes of upcoming v4, I had this weird feeling in my stomach , wondering if I am currently wasting a lot of my time, while configuring v3.8.2, since v4, (to which I cannot wait to upgrade) has 'a lot' of changes. And I am afraid that I would have to re-configure a lot of things after upgrade to v4. Would someone, who already upgraded and tested v4, please be very kind to advise on this matter. My business and website is not launched yet and in the process of development. Considering this, I have an option to stop my work on configuring v3.8.2, if I knew that after upgrade to v4 I would have to re-configure a lot of things I spent many days configuring in v3.8.2. Please, if it is possible, would someone inform me and other new WHMCS users about certain difficulties, if there are any, when new v3.8.2 users might face after upgrade to v4. I am sure that many of WHMCS users would be very thankful, if they are informed about certain steps they can take before release of v4, to save the time and effort, for example on configuring everything in v3.8.2 like I currently do, if a lot of things would have to be re-configured after upgrade. Sincerely, Serg P.S. My apology for wordy post, it's just my habit

Hello bear and Daniel, "Daniel - With the time you guys have wasted on this, you could have written a few hundred articles yourself." ----------------------------------------------------- "Bear - If you're free to use, edit and contribute without restrictions, why not simply start your own? I never quite got the concept here of a shared KB, feeling it was not a simple thing to share properly or fairly." I am absolutely agree with you! Daniel, You right with bear, but I do not feel as if I wasted time exploring different thoughts and things I can try while reading this forum. But both of you are so right about just creating our own KBs, created to our specific marketing requirements and needs of our 'different businesses' in the same 'hosting/web' market. Daniel, just like you, I didn't got the concept of creating shared KB too, but it sounds so tempting to create a KB collaboration wiki, created, maintained, edited, and contributed by industry people, and business owners. But as I noted earlier, in my previous posts, I truly believe that there is no difficulty to create KB, a one that would speak to particular market each one of us in. I am truly pro - create-your-own-KB, and enjoy to share it with your particular customers. But we still could start industry WIKI, just to share and enrich information (which we can use to create, edit, and enrich our KBs,) or draw new ideas for our 'private' KBs and industry in general. Possible and useful! I would support it. But at the same time, there probably are sites like that already exist, so we just have to make sure and research, or start one for WHMCS members only? Good luck to all! Sincerely, Serg
-
vT16, You have very interesting point, because since a lot of business owners would have a direct dependency on that WIKI knowledge-base and be a primary stakeholders, then no one should worry about spending a lot of their precious time maintaining and moderating WIKI, because a lot of us, as direct stakeholders, would be glad to volunteer to do the task for as little as 1 hour a week. And technically speaking, KB doesn't need to be within WHMCS. It can be done without any particular styling or formating, just like plain KB database (maybe with API) for users to integrate it within their websites, without any need of redirecting. Or, back to original point of this thread and to keep KB in WHMCS friendly format, it should be available freely for us to use, edit, and contribute without any restrictions. Or someone have to start a new KB with this purpose and features. And we shouldn't fear of someone misusing it because we are all direct stakeholders as we will use that KB in our businesses. This is all very interesting, but need some more input! Or, as I personally don't mind, populate your own knowledge base and enjoy it. I do not see any difficulty in creating amazing and rich KB by myself (and for myself), and I don't think any of us would have any difficulty with this task at all, as long as we are not lazy. And that is it! Sincerely, Serg

Interesting, But how in the world do I know what topics had been covered in those articles that are already there? I like to research and write, but do I have to write blindly without knowing if there are already similar topics written about, and maybe written better than mine? If you could take little time, create a publicly accessible skeleton of topics/titles and short outline (in key phrases covered in each, already available article), then new users would have a chance to scan through and see if they have or can write an article on topics that haven't yet been covered, thus, contributing valuable articles that not just the same topics written about by different people in different ways. Other thing is, can the more knowledgeable users that already have access edit already existing articles and update or elaborate certain information within those articles? I think it would be much better, if it's not a commercial contribution, to simply create a social network like wiki, where any one can contribute, edit, and update information, then by now that KB would be much better and bigger. And in a little time it would grow to unimaginable size of information. Simple example of growth of wikipedia - if wikipedia would keep itself private then it would never become what it is right now, a 'huge' resource of information. The other thing is, even for newcomers, there are tons of royalty free articles and KBs on the internet, and some can be bought for so chip. It is so easy to find free and royalty free articles, buy thousands of articles for very chip, modify and rewrite them, that personally I am not interested in sharing my articles to 'not publicly accessible' KB with only 60 articles, when with a little research I can have much more that offered here. Not that I am in any way against to what is being created here, but KB articles is something so easy to populate and enrich to much more than possible with limited access KB, that not being released to public. Tell me this, what's there in your KB that is not already and freely available on the internet? Anyway, keep it up. And hopefully it would be available publicly and freely, then it would grow much faster and be much of value and very useful. (Or maybe I can allocate time and start publicly available-royalty free KB for this industry where anyone would be able to use, add, edit, update articles on publicly accessible and usable website without any restrictions, and see which one would grow faster.) After all, wikipedia regardless of any criticism, is greatest inspiration - people not just love to use things, they love to contribute too. Sincerely, Serg P.S. Do not mean to discourage you from what you trying to create. Maybe I am wrong. But it was my personal opinion. And I would gladly contribute if it was publicly available.

Hello DataHosts, That's a good idea, I would be very interested. Considering PM features that would be available in your module, I would say, from my own opinion, as a PMI student, the more it will comply with global PM standards the better. Project management now days encompasses almost every industry, especially IT industry, and anyone who works with projects would benefit greatly from following some or all PM standards (depending on the project.) And when it comes to quality of your PM module, I don't think anyone experienced or knowledgeable in PM would mind to pay a little extra for the PM tools within WHMCS that comply with standards and make PM tasks much easier, since PM in general is a big set of time consuming tasks. Have you thought about finding some good online PM software development (open source perhaps, or some other,) that offers great amount of PM features and API, and use their API to integrate within your PM module? That would ease your task of integrating many useful PM features. Keep it up, friend! I am sure that most of us would be interested in PM module within WHMCS with "many" great features. And when it comes to calculating your price for the module, consider that PM is so valuable to any business that cares about better efficiency and enhanced effectiveness in delivering their services and increased customer satisfaction; to any business that cares about increased risk assessment, increased quality, increased quantity and flexibility, that places their business in greater standing and competitive edge in the current marketplace. Sincerely, Serg

Hello chickendippers, How are you? So there is no need to use enomssl module to automate eNom SSL certificates sales, if one didn't make appropriate eNom deposit to cover automated SSL sales, right? Can then SSL certificate products be entered and configured as 'other/miscellaneous' products (without using enomssl module) and manually ordered and configured after order is placed and payment received? (Considering that SSL certificates in my case are just the value I add to already existing clients.) Thank you! Serg P.S. Btw, this is Yes/No questions my apologies for past negative remarks about Yes/No answers, I guess I had a bad day.
-
Hello there, again Never mind about my above questions. I kept on reading threads about enomssl, and found out that in V4 other eNom SSL certificates had been added to the module. I guess I have to get in the habit of reading the forum about the topic at hand more often, before posting quick questions. Wow, I am enlightened It actually takes less time to find answers by reading the forum compared to posting questions and waiting for answer. Great luck to all! Serg
-
Hello everybody, I have a quick question from the top of my mind. I am about to configure SSL certificate products in WHMCS, and was wondering why only 9 out of 15 eNom SSL certificates are available to automate eNom SSL sales in WHMCS? What about other SSL certificates? Isn't eNom provides automated sales and provisioning for the rest of SSL certificates (which for some reason are not available in enomssl module)? Sincerely, Serg

Desiguru, I am also new to WHMCS and did not have any problems or difficulties with installation nor use. Besides reading the material at http://www.wiki.whmcs.com (which is crucial), I found many flash-video tutorials on how to install and use WHMCS. Flash tutorials actually came very handy to guide me step-by-step with any WHMCS process I was working on. Since I used Hostgator.com to host many of my sites, I used flash tutorials that are readily available at their website, here is the link where you can find flash video tutorials - http://www.hostgator.com/tutorials.shtml (scroll down the page and find WHMCS tutorials.) There are also many other sites that provide flash video tutorials. Very helpful! Sincerely, Serg
