Which Paypal account?

Hi all,

 

Planning on signing up to WHMCS in the near future, but not sure what type of Paypal account I'd need to set up to accept payments, choice seems to be Web Payments Standard / Pro or Express Checkout.

 

What would be the right one for WHMCS (if there is a right one)

You can use PayPal or Website Payments Pro. The first can be used with any PayPal account, clients are taken to the PayPal website to pay. The second is more like a merchant gateway, clients enter their CC details into WHMCS on your server.

Yes you can as long as your payPal account is a business account.

The easiest way to accept online payments via PayPal is to setup a standard business account, it will still let you accept credit and debit card / PayPal payments from clients via the gateway. You won't however be able to take phone or mail payments and enter client credit card details and charge it manually. If you require this feature then a merchant account is what you need.

Thanks for all replies so far, just one final question. I've set up a 'Website Payments Standard' Paypal account, but what payment gateway should I use in WHMCS, 'Paypal' or 'Website Payments Pro'?

If it's not "Website Payments Pro" and just a standard one, you should use the normal PayPal option within WHMCS.
