scottc
I'm new to WHMCS, so there may be an obvious answer to this that I missed in the documentation and forums. I'm trying to set up a simple process for existing clients to register new domains. They don't need to pay for another hosting plan, just the annual domain registration fee. I set up a product/service called Domain names, and I set up the pricing and registrar stuff. It works, but the ordering process seems cumbersome. Below are the instructions I sent to a client. Is there a better way to set this up so that it doesn't require 9 steps on the part of the client to order a new domain? For example, step 4 is very confusing from the client's point of view - it would only be helpful if they wanted to order another hosting package, which neither I nor the client really wants. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. Scott 1. Login here: (url to our WHMCS installation) 2. Click the Order link in the Quick Navigation section on the right 3. Select Domain name from the Categories drop down box 4. Click the Domain Registration link - DO NOT CLICK THE BUTTON LABELED "Click to Continue" 5. Type the domain in the box and pick the TLD from the drop down, then click the "Click to Continue" button on this page. 6. Once you find an available domain that you want, click the "Add to Cart" button. 7. Click the "Update Cart" button (ignore everything else on the page). 8. Click the "Checkout" button 9. Select your Payment Method, check the Terms of Service box, and click the "Complete Order" button.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted August 7, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted August 7, 2009 Don't create a product for domain registration. Setup the domain registrar module in Setup > Domain Registrars (http://whmcs.com/tutorials.php?i=7) Then the pricing in Setup > Domain Registration (http://whmcs.com/tutorials.php?i=6) Send your client to domainchecker.php, the link is on the WHMCS homepage.
scottc
Oh, it's "Domain Checker" instead of "Order". That's where my client (and I) got lost, so I set up a domain as a product. I'll have to find a way to redirect people from the Order link when they only want a domain name, as that's the first place they are going to look. Thank you.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted August 7, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) Well Register and Transfer domain options are already available on the Order page in the cart orderform templates, and Domain Registration is one of the categories in the dropdown on the default template too. meeven
So, by going to domainchecker.php, someone can register a domain name alone without also having to add hosting?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted November 24, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted November 24, 2009 They can do it both ways, from the cart and from domainchecker!
