isdoo
Hi, In view of the sterling crash, can anyone recommend decent managed linux / windows servers in the UK with Plesk as the control panel. Looking for a company with a reasonable number of servers and a decent support mechanism. Thanks.
simplybe
A uk server will probably still cost you more than a usa one despite the current exchange rate. But if you are uk business then i would go with uk servers anyway. uk2 are reliable but no plesk. you can get the server without a cp and add plesk yourself. rackspace are possibly the best but a little more expensive. These are the only 2 uk companies I have experience with.
othellotech
can anyone recommend decent managed linux / windows servers in the UK with Plesk as the control panel. managed and plesk in the same sentence is going to be difficult ... many of the budget end of suppliers are moving out of the docklands datacentres to ceaper, less well connected facilities, or their own little warehouse units - the GBP rate may have changed, but thats not affecting the cost of space in London DC's for windows - try secura hosting - anything they supply will be significantly faster and more reliable than rackspace for linux we've never used anyone but ourselves

AndrewMKP
www.real-hosts.co.uk Excellent experience with Peter there. Very helpfull and if there is anything you don't see, just drop them an email and they will bend over backwards to help you as much as possible. I used them for around 8 months with no issues and once my setup/site is complete will be taking out more servers with them. I would highly reccomend them.

Gav
poundhost.com are very reliable and one of the cheaptest providers around. I use them for streaming. I also use rapidswitch and uk2 which are also good.
VicToMeyeZR
Disregard my post about ukservers.com They have continually lied to us about the server we were provided. I recently, after running test on the windows system, found that our server was 5GB Short of RAM, after multiple support request for them to verify that the Windows was misreporting 3GB instead of 8 because of the 32 bit system that was running. I found a program that flashes the M/B and tells you exactly what is attached to it, serial Numbers, date of manufacture, everything. I say again, do NOT do business with http://ukservers.com (I have screen shots if anyone wants to see.)
Gav
You should probably threaten them with legal action, that's not on - I'm sure they'd soon sort it out.
VicToMeyeZR
We are waiting until we have a replacement with someone else and all our files backup before we do that.
AndrewMKP
what was the program you used? And yeah, name them and shame them here with screenshots if you can. Any host that lies should be taken through formal and legal routes. Write to them, you could ask for all your money back for the months you have hosted with them due to them lieing to you.
