DiegoM
I'm trying to edit messages from "email template", but it gives me a error: Email Template Update Failed There was an error in the syntax used in your email template, either a missing curly backet or unclosed tag. Please go back and correct the error. Even if I just open and click to save the same message, without any change. How can I fix it?
bear
Was the file uploaded in an unedited state, or had you already done some changes?
ph23man
I'm having the same issue. This problem came up after I upgraded from 3.6.2 to 3.7.1. From what I can tell, the upgrade process automatically replaced the old merge fields to the new format. But whenever I try to edit an email template, it goes back to the main email template listing and displays the following error: Email Template Update Failed There was an error in the syntax used in your email template, either a missing curly backet or unclosed tag. Please go back and correct the error. Which is also followed by a empty pink textarea. Even if I don't make any changes and save the email template I get this error. I even tried deleting all the content of the email template and still get the error. When I upgraded, I uploaded all the 3.7.1 files unmodified.

ph23man
I figured it out but it wasn't due to custom admin paths. I had HTTP authentication on the admin folder which interferes with email template editting in 3.7.1.

This was the issue for me as well.
Zorro67
I also had the same issue. the only way to fix at my end is to edit my htacess file and comment out the https for my (custom) whmcs admin directory, modify the email templates & then reset htaccess. Hoever, thats a pain in the @ss, so i hope a fix is incorporated in the next version.
redrat
I do as well. I don't know why it is because 3.6.2 was pretty sorted but, for some reason, 3.7.1 is a bit buggy. I am looking forward to the next version already.
ph23man
Yea I just comment out the HTTP authentication part in my htaccess file when I edit the email templates and put it back when I'm done. Actually, I also use htaccess to restrict admin access to only my IP. I found this causes the same problem. To fix it, add the IP of your site/server and it should work.
ddenev
I have the same problem and neither solution works. It worked just after I updated to 3.7.1 and applied the "custom admin" solution but today I noticed that it doesn't work again. I tried to completely rename my htaccess file and this did not help.
