Keep in mind, here's the server specs that we have this script running on: CPU: Dual/Quad-Core Dual Xeon 4096 Memory (Minimum) Raid 1 Does WHMCS really use that amount of resources? I can't believe it. What are my options, besides upgrading the server, because I know this server is more than capable of running many applications of whmcs on it.
Daniel
Where did you get the stats from? Unless the cron is failing, I wouldn't worry about it too much - it should only run for a few seconds.
donnyboy
Our server admin The problem is, it's not just cron the jobs. We have a record of 131.4 %CPU Usage for a customer responding to a support ticket.
othellotech
what else is the server doing ? and yes 131% of cpu is *bad* ...
bear
and yes 131% of cpu is *bad* ... I'd suggest that using more than all available CPU is not only bad, but unlikely to be more than top misreporting or something. After all, isn't 100% all there is of anything?

After all, isn't 100% all there is of anything? This reporting is very accurate. We are currently a reseller. Our account, along with each of our customer's accounts are allowed up to 20% cpu usage. any reports over 100% means it was over that 20% cpu usage.
donnyboy
I'm sorry, nevermind. Those records are of the entire system cpu resources.
handsonwebhosting
We're using a Dual Core Conroe (1.8Ghz with 2GB ram) with a consistant load of less than 10% CPU usage even on our busy days. With a few thousand hosting customers logging in to the billing system for everything from tickets (about 40 tickets average per day) and checking server status etc - never a problem. A Quad Core should definitly be able to handle things if our little 'ole Dual Core Conroe handles it with almost no load on the server.

I'm absolutely sure it's a scripting problem now.

After all, isn't 100% all there is of anything? Also, to answer your question more accurately, the server is running off of 4 cpus. That's how it can go over 100%. It's not out of the 20%.
