Madumi
My WHMCS installation was done by tech support, so I'm only catching up on details now. Its cron folder is found outside of public_html in the root directory of my shared hosting server, in this directory: whmcsdata/cron/cron.php When WHMCS gets auto updated. These files don't get updated (a fact I only discovered recently). Only the files within public_html get updated. Do I need to copy the contents of the updated /cron directory (found in public_html/whmcs/), and paste them over the outdated files in whmcsdata/cron/cron.php? I am assuming the answer is yes, but I wanted to double check before doing anything stupid. As an additional Q, are there any other files which need to be manually updated like this? Thanks!
Solution RadWebHosting Posted September 4 Solution Share Posted September 4 Yes, this sounds correct.
Damo
The built-in auto updater knows where these directories are located and should be updating them as needed. What's the discovery you found that suggests otherwise?
Madumi
Hi @Damo My configuration was done by support staff, who placed the crons folder in the root directory (outside of public_html). This is the recommended practice ( https://docs.whmcs.com/8-13/getting-started/configuring-whmcs/move-the-cron-directory/ ). But yes, when done, the auto updates don't touch those files in the root directory. But yes, copying/overwriting the crons with the new copies in my whmcs application folder /cron did the trick & everything is functioning as it should be...
