Updating to 8.7.3 wipes out the hotfix for ticket status names

If the Hotfix at the following thread is applied to 8.7.2 and you then update to 8.7.3, the hotfix changes are overwritten.

Q for WHMCS staff: can we safely re-apply that hotfix without it affecting the security contents of 8.7.3? Also why wasn't this hotfix rolled into the 8.7.3 update?
