Subscription/recurring billing issue

I have a product which is FREE, but has addons which are not.

I was having problems that customers are not being automatically billed for the addons, and are having to login and pay manually, which is resulting in my having recurring issues with late payments.
This is a problem because these addons have an associated cost for me.

WHMCS support has informed me that this is because the primary product is free, so a recurring payment/subscription is not created.

Is there any way around this, other to delete all my addons and replace them with stand-alone products?

but they didn't offer any suggestions on a solution ??

what about making the main product recurring at 0.00 rather than free - achieves the same result, but allows the invoicing process to continue natively.

Brain, I feel as though I should just bypass the forums and email you directly with my question, since it is always you who replies lol

The only suggestion whmcs support offered was to not use addons as I mentioned above, and create separate products instead.

Will setting the product price as £0 instead of Free actually solve this? Since there will obviously will be no charge made, will it still create the gateway token and setup a subscription?
