UXmedia
Hi, This seems like it should be simple. I am on a lInux Server, and using Apache. But I cant get Friendly URLs to work. they are red if i look at the advanced section. I have an SSL, although it is the free/auto SSL that comes with the hosting. maybe thats not good.. ? WHMCS ChrisD
Hi @UXmedia We do check enviroments to see if they are compatible, fully friendly requires Apache Mod_Rewrite, Friendly index, php requires Apache AcceptPathInfo behavior There are three possible modes: Fully Friendly Rewrite - This option will generate highly systematic URLs, which are excellent for search engines and visitors alike. The are completely decoupled from the file system. This mode is only valid in environments that support Apache Mod_Rewrite behavior. Example: http://awesome.host/knowledgebase Friendly index.php - This option will generate systematic URLs but is coupled to the filesystem. It is a good option for search engines and visitors if your environment does not support Apache Mod_Rewrite. This mode is only valid in environments that support Apache AcceptPathInfo behavior. Example: http://awesome.host/index.php/knowledgebase Basic URLs - This option will generate URLs which are ubiquitously supported in all web environments. Most search engine technologies are capable of moderate to advanced indexing when analyzing these types of URLs. However some internet users find these URLs unattractive and cumbersome. Example: http://awesome.host/index.php?rp=/knowledgebase
UXmedia
@WHMCS ChrisD Thanks! I work in Wordpress mainly so am sure the environment I have setup is using Apache Mod_Rewrite, thats what WP uses, so its weird that it is red, reading as incompatible. I manage this server, but will check with the host again to make sure. Is there something else I might be missing in WHMCS?
brian!
it years since i've seen it locally, but I used to sometimes get red indicators in Friendly URLs, but those options still seemed to work without (additional) issues.
UXmedia
ya, i can confirm Apache Mod_Rewrite is working. But no Fully Friendly Rewrite URL's. 😞

UXmedia
kinda, its go a php handler to get php.7.3 and one redirect, but if i pull that it doesn't change anything I also cant get my cron jobs to run, but Ill start a different thread for that..I only mention it incase something might be connected here
UXmedia
In fact i pulled both the redirect and the handler...still no change. 😞
UXmedia
you know, i am starting to think i might have screwed a few things up. when i moved to a sub-domain (separate package) i did this manually.... I also manually exported and imported the database, and had to edit a few things in the WHMCS admin panel to get things up ad running, maybe i missed a few things.. i have weird things happening like i can get to Setup/Apps & Integrations... and others, and when i check the files on the server.. for instance https://clientportal.uxmediahouse.com/USERXXXXXXX/apps that file isnt here, this is also the case for a few other items too...like Sign-In Integrations (https://clientportal.uxmediahouse.com/USERXXXXXXX/setup/authn/view) that directory does not exist in the user folder. Is there a way for me to get a fresh copy of WHMCS, and overwrite the existing files? or atleast double check that they are all there? I got the license from my hosting company(i own a VPS server there). Damn!
UXmedia
well... I just did a fresh install of WHMCS on a test server to check if any files were missing on MY install...and they are identical. So, why do the links not work? Any idea? https://clientportal.uxmediahouse.com/USERXXXXXXX/apps https://clientportal.uxmediahouse.com/USERXXXXXXX/setup/authn/view
UXmedia
aha! it was because i had it set to Friendly URLS, but for some reason they are not working. I think Ill stick with basic urls for now... no big deal.
brian!
15 minutes ago, UXmedia said: aha! it was because i had it set to Friendly URLS, but for some reason they are not working. I think Ill stick with basic urls for now... no big deal. with recent versions, Friendly URLs are being used in both admin and client areas - so there's no harm in using basic urls now and keeping the redirect down to a minimum.
