Domain renewal - auto invoice

pburgh19

Recommended Posts

I run a small design business and don't register a ton of domains. I have ~20 domains assigned to clients in WHMCS. I've noticed that instead of an invoice, WHMCS will simply email the client and ask them to go the client portal to renew. Instead, I would like the client/owner to get an invoice when the domain is due for renewal, just like they do for a hosting product.

Is this possible? I know I can manually issue a domain renewal invoice, but I'd like that part to be automated. I'd prefer for my clients to have as little work to do as possible, and an invoice with a link to pay is very easy for them (and me).

Thanks!

i'm surprised it isn't invoicing automatically - you must have missed out a step somewhere along the lines... :?:

By default, domains will invoice automatically in advance of the renewal date. How far in advance is determined by your invoice generation settings in Setup > Automation Settings Domains will auto invoice for renewal providing that they are in Active status, and the "Do Not Renew" option is not checked in the domains profile.

I assume you must have the cron setup, otherwise it wouldn't be generating the emails.. or invoices for products... did you register these 20 domains via WHMCS, or did you manually add them ?

They were manually added. I added them at the bottom of the order screen when I was making orders for hosting products for my clients.

I will test a shorter time period for invoice generation under Automation Settings and see if that does the trick. I think I had the cart before the horse...
