Go to settings - > Mail - > change to 8bit to printable bit and then try again. If you get it working just update back to 8bit. Thats how I got it fixed

Yep that was it. That's painful, that was 8 hours of emails going out like that :(

Is there a not-horrendous way of re-sending all of those emails?

Had this same problem, changing it did fix the problem.

For reference my server is using standard PHP mail not SMTP, and it was only after the update to 5.3.7 that this problem started. I have an addon module that sends to pushover from hook and that worked fine (even without changing mail setting) but actual emails all came in blank.

ALL emails were blank BTW, not just support tickets, all cron job emails, sync emails, etc.

I"m logged into my WHMCS and i'm not seeing any menu navigation items that say "Settings" or "Mail" or anything about 8-bit

Please clarify what your talking about when telling someone to navigate to something.

I have this issue and need to get it resolved.

Thanks in advance

Ok I found it after a bit.......

for those that are like me and didn't follow the navigation from the preious poster.

Login to WHMCS admin

Goto -> Setup -> General Settings -> Mail Tab -> Then Mail Encoding line item. Change it from "8Bit" to "quoted-printable"

THEN

goto http://yoururl.com/admin/cron.php and you'll get your regular email and see if it's still blank.

This fixed worked form me

Might be linked to using PHP Mail....now had three other WHMCS user who have checked theirs and it was working OK after the upgrade, all have SMTP configured. Might be just coincidence mind you!

i have the same problem and my Mail Type is SMTP, it seams its not SMTP or PHP Mail issue. may be another thing.

Thank you guys for this post. I've been scratching my head, searching for answers for the last 48hrs since I upgraded to 5.3.7. I even performed a full reinstall and then re-migration of data and it only shows blank emails for all in 5.3.7. I'm using SMTP with 8-bit mail encoding as my Mail Type, so it seems its not limited as @havilahh stated.

I think this should be addressed as a bug/ coding error and the WHMCS team should look into this, as it doesn't seem to be an isolated issue.

The 5.3.7 patch was released in mid-May - it seems like this should have been addressed with a new patch, or at the very least, announced by the WHMCS staff. This was a very big deal, and has caused a lot of people (WHMCS's customers, and our customers) headaches. Very disappointing.

Hey folks,

We are aware of the issue due to the upgrade.

You don't actually have to change the encoding type, you simply need to 'ReSave' from any page in the General Settings page.

It was an issue where during the upgrade, the encoding type that you have set, was not saved in the database.

So by going to Setup >> General Settings >> Mail tab and ensuring some type of encoding is present and the correct mail server type is selected then clicking the "Save Changes" will fix the issue.

We do have a Case for this with our developers:

Case 4541

If you still have any issues with this, lodge a ticket with us so we can further assist.

Thanks all!
