Upgraded to 5.2.13. now telling me my license is out of date. I own it

Hi

Im not happy. Done what looks like a free update to 5.2.13 and now it says my license is out of date. I own it.

If it was a major update then these are done by having to logon to whmcs to get the files and this was not done and freely available.

I know my support is out of date but as this is ANOTHER security update then this is all part of the support I paid for in the previous support which allowed me to upgrade to 5.2.

Ive upgraded fine to 5.2.12 and and all previous upgrades so this needs sorting ASAP as I cannot access my billing system

Any one else had this issue ?

Hi,

I think if you have the One-Time License you have 1 Year Included*

* Owned Licenses include 1 Year Support & Updates access with the initial purchase. After the first year, support & updates access can be optionally renewed to maintain access at a cost of just $44.95 per year.

My point is that the updates are freely available to download. I took the whmcs license over from a previous owner who never said anything about update renewals. It supposedly expired in August but I got all the updates recently and I should not be allowed to install them to then be told when I have updated the software that my license has expired and I cannot get into my billing system.

I was hacked recently on WHMCS and this made me do the updates as soon as they come out. Like I said I can now not get into my billing system.

As WHMCS has left many people open recently then the updates should be free. If they are not free then they should be with the major updates behind their client area.

Regards

I completely agree with this and I was in the same position. Support extended my license for a day so I could access the incremental. If it is a critical security flaw then these patches should be provided to ALL license holders, it's not our fault the product is flawed and I'm not interested in new features all I want is a secure system. If the patch requires an up to date support license don't let us download it. The policy seems to change on this every time I talk to support.

Lets see if the next security patch breaks it.............

They don't charge for security patches. You need to put in a ticket to have this resolved.

The support people seem to have a different opinion on this, from my earlier ticket:

It is true that support and updates is required in order for you to be able to upgrade your WHMCS installation even for security releases.

However, I have been able to grant a single extension for you to be able to apply the 5.1.14 release.

You should now find the admin area accessible.

However, please note that this would not change the policy for future releases and to update in the future, you would require active support and updates.

It would be nice to get a definitive answer from WHMCS as to whether critical security patches require a current support package. Anyone able to give this???

Hi

Glad its just not me then. They fixed the update by creating a invoice for 0.00 but what will happen next time.

A security update should be free - I think this a must especially after the last few months.

An update is paid for - Again I have no problems with this and I will do when there is an update for a year.

Im guessing WHMCS-matt might be getting a grilling tomorrow after posting that security patches

after applying the security patch, the system became unavailable until we had to pay for the "updates & support" service.

even after that, the system has too many open issues (which are not related to the security patch itself) making the system unusable.

I think we agree major updates should be paid for but not security or minor updates.

We paid for the original major upgrade (ie 5.2) so it should be followed through until the next upgrade (ie 5.3). If you choose not to upgrade to the next major upgrade (ie 5.3) then your support will be finished including security patches.

minor updates/security updates are normally down to programing errors or loop holes and are not the user who bought the softwares fault

After the patch 5.213.

You are using an Owned License for which the support & updates validity period expired before this release. Therefore in order to use this version of WHMCS, you first need to renew your support & updates access. You can do this from our client area @ www.whmcs.com/members/clientarea.php

If you feel this message to be an error, please contact us @www.whmcs.com/get-support

Got a new license key? Click here to enter it

Yet An active support and updates package is not required for security patches. If you're seeing an error please open a ticket and our support team will be able to assist you.

And to clarify you should update either to 5.1.14 *OR* 5.2.13 (the latest). There is no 5.2.14 version, and there is only 1 patch for each version. I'm seeing a lot of people applying either both patches, or the one that doesn't apply to their version, leading to problems.
