tom.eagles
Hi There, from what i can understand you can use paypal express to handle payments in the cart as long as there is no subscription (recurring payments) in a product, if thats the case you get the error there is a problem with your sellers email address. I contacted paypal merchant support and was told this. We tested your cart and if a user selects a product that doesnt use a subscription then the process completes as expected. However, if there is a recurring payment then the gateway plugin redirects it through the paypal standard gateway which you dont have hence the email error. Now my situation is this, i have the one fully verified business account set to use paypal express which a few other plugins rely on. I cant switch to paypal standard or the others will break, so how can i get whmcs to use paypal express when. a)paying for a product with recurring payments in the cart or. b)paying an invoice for a product / service in the client area that has recurring payments. Creating a second paypal account is simply not possible as it would require a new bank account and credit card etc. This one is driving me nuts.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted November 13, 2013 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted November 13, 2013 Hi, In order to use the PayPal express module with WHMCS you must also have the regular "PayPal" module enabled as mentioned in our documentation: http://docs.whmcs.com/PayPal_Express_Checkout However this won't cause any problems with your existing software that uses PayPal to process payments, this is because WHMCS sends the IPN URL in the payment button code, so it doens't actually matter what IPN URL setting you're using in the PayPal account.
tom.eagles
Hi John, thanks for the input but it really doesn't answer the question, I am asking if i want to use paypal express as the checkout gateway for a product that has a recurring payment according to the instructions on the link you gave me I need to use a paypal standards account which requires a separate account as you can not have paypal express and paypal standard on the same paypal account. Is there a work round
Damo
I think you already have the answer. What you want to do with recurring payments is not possible. PayPal have confirmed it, the link from WHMCS to their docs confirm it. If your other tools will break then you have to make the decision to use them OR whmcs.
