Please read carefully!! You are talking about 5.1.13. In your previous post you've mentioned 5.2.13

What version are running 5.1.x or 5.2.x?

Yes, already, that's what I've been telling him and waiting for a confirmation from him or others about the issue existing for them on 5.2.12. Anyone?

To be fair though, with so many updates recently, it's hard to blame people for making mistakes.

You didn't accidently install the 5.1.13 patch on your 5.2 series install, did you? That seems to have caused issues, such as this, with several people.

I *almost* did this. I wouldn't be surprised if many others have done so to.

I missed 5.2.11, saw the update for 5.2.12 and at the bottom of the page 5.1.13 was mentioned, had to look more than twice, was wondering where 5.2.13 could be found.

Nope, this has NOTHING to do with installing a 5.1 version on a 5.2 install.

The question: Are you all saying that you are on 5.2.12 and are able to read attachments on customers tickets without being taken to the client index page? That's all that's being asked here.

Gentleman,

I have a particular question, and a specific answer as well:

Question: Is the bug section of the forums difficult to find now? Often, I see submissions in the Technical Issues and Questions area that look like bug reports, or potential bug reports. Can someone, or multiples help identify this for me as an issue or not?

Answer: We have an update to the Ticket Attachment functionality in 5.2.12. If you submit a ticket, you can receive this update.

Chris,

Can that updated be downloaded and applied by us?

Instead of opening a ticket

I put in a ticket, and got a response within the hour with the patch. :)

I personally haven't seen the issue, using IE 9, in 5.2.12. However, I figured I would get the patch just in case. Maybe it is browser specific or something. I do have dl.php excluded from my mod_rewrite rules, though. That may be why I haven't seen it in the latest version. I did have the issue, in the past on version 5.2.8. Things would work when I disabled SSL, but with SSL, it would redirect to the client area login when I tried to view/download PDFs or attachments. Excluding dl.php from mod_rewrite, with the following line, fixed it:

# Exclude dl.php from rewrite rules

RewriteRule ^(dl\.php) - [L]

Yes it is difficult to find. I didn't know it existed. The problem is that the logged in session of these forums appears to be very short. Everytime I come back to them I'm kicked out and have to log in again (which itself is another annoying issue, maybe it can be extended) but anyway, after doing some digging around I found that the bug reports sub section is only visible to logged in users. I usually will browse the forums and if I have a topic to post I'll go to the most relevant section I can find but then realize that I'm no longer logged in, have to log in again and by the time I get logged in I'm just looking for the "new thread" button. Maybe making it visible to not logged in visitors will help.

It's an issue for a number of reasons... First, yes, it is hard(er) to find, and not obvious any more (it's a tiny-font sub-forum off the main list and easily overlooked). Second, if you did find it, your first impression would be that the reports there rarely get any feedback. (Of the 20 threads in my view, 2 are stickys, and only 6 of the 18 left, mostly at the bottom, have any sort of [sTATUS] tag associated with it.) Lastly, it's also a moderation issue... If this thread was a bug report, why wasn't it moved?

Bug reporting has been a mess, IMHO, for a long time. There is no tracking of the reports, and all too often they are marked [FIXED] or [RESOLVED] with no resolution posted.
