Yes in fact i do have better things to do, but since there seems to be issues with 512 i dont want to spend my time waiting on support tickets in the event of a major issue. I also dont want to spend my time fixing issues myself. So yes i do have better things to do with my time, but asking this question helps me to decide when the right time for my company is.

I am using this poll as a tool and some basic feedback to help me decide when the right time for me is. So you can take your smart remarks and stuff them where the sun dont shine, i see no reason for such remarks, if you dont agree with the poll then move on with your life and disregard it, dont you have better things to do with your time than to be rude and ugly, i guess not.

Also if you want an option for already upgraded then your are welcome to do your own poll, this poll is for those who have not as of yet.

First off, I dont want a poll and secondly, the point here is that your poll is both futile and senseless. How long is a piece of string exactly? Who can say when they'll update and put a time on it?

If Matt and WHMCS announce in a few days time mass fixes which make everyone rave about 5.1.2, you'll see it on the forum.

Whereas, if nothing changes, and people are still as uncertain in 6 months time, neither they nr you are going to upgrade.

How can you say 2 months?

So stop taking things so personally (everyone) and then being nasty to your peers. My comments to you are that I think this is a total waste of time as a thread and poll. If you disagree, fine. I'm not telling you to stick it anywhere. You can take my connents or leave them. Just no need man, no need to be offensive to people.

I'm using 5.1.2 and have had issues, but worked brought them and am happy with he it's performing now.

It's normally only those who have "issues" who come onto a forum. Others without issues have normally no need and for that reason I posted. I feel Matt and team must also feel the same at times. So 5.1.2 - happy and making the point loud and Lear in a futile poll that made no room for me :)

Now that you have addressed your concerns intelligently i understand and can see your point to a point.

I can say 2 months because i feel it will take about that time for them to come out with 5.1.3 which should address many of the more serious issues. I cant imagine with their track record they would allow the major issues to go on longer than 2 months. Yes it is a guess and yes if it is not done i will not upgrade until i am certain, in that you are correct. But the purpose is the poll was not to set anything in concrete but to guage the replies as a assistive tool as just one part of my decision process.

Once i see others biting the bullet i will assume that the issues have been handled because i cant imagine that WHMCS will want more and more tickets.

Plus if matt sees that a high percentage is planning a ? month upgrade he knows he has that amount of time to make sure he has certain things done to prevent a plethera of more tickets.

I agree in your case the poll might be futile and purposeless, but it was not written for you alone, but for the masses. And if it helps a small amount of customers make the right choice for them and avoid some hassle then it is worth it.

Again you are entitled to your opinion as is anyone but i also feel that replying to a thread just for the purpose of being negative is also futile and purposeless. What do you gain by letting the world know you think its futile, do you get some frustration out for the day, do you vent about this in the place of venting about whats really bothering you. Maybe you just like the drama, i just cant imagine why you would even take the time to say anything at all if its not for you, but i guess it might be important for you to say something because maybe you dont have a life, i dont know. Im just saying why say anything at all, just move on with your little world you live in is all.

To put it simply, it is alot like if you were walking in a store and i walked over to you and said oh by the way i hate your shirt, its futile and it sucks. You would probably think, whats his problem, so he does not like my shirt so what. Now do you understand why i reacted the way i did? No reply required.

No harm no foul, and peace.

I love your shirt. And stating 5.1.2 is what I'm using is not negative. What's negative is the fact that the option wasn't listed in your poll.

I know of plenty who are using 5.1.2 but who will not be on these forums and your poll (sorry) fails to add anything positive without giving voice to those who are already upgraded. Everyone who comes onto these forums thinks 5.1.2 is not suitable for use. It is.

If you are going to upgrade to 5.1.3 (when it comes out) then surely that is not an answer to your own question. (When are you going to upgrade to 5.1.2?) Many have stated they will not upgrade to 5.1.2 - but yet you will be happy to upgrade to 5.1.3 when it is released immediately? or will you want to wait a couple of months to see others who have upgraded and are happy with it. ? Do you see my point?

No harm. No foul. And Peace!!! (Not negative - just a different perspective).

lol ok you made me laugh, i love your shirt too lol,

ok fair enough i see your point, fyi i used 5.1.3 as an example not that they will actually release another version but to say they may release something 512a maybe that will have the fixes in there. I understand your point in that i did not include who already upgraded and i apologize for that, maybe i should have. Maybe we can just say that such an option can be included in "other" i dont know.

Im not dissing matt but i have seen in threads where he says there is nothing wrong with 512 and yet in the same thread he talks about what to change to make it work right. So i dont think it is fit to use at this very moment, but that is just my opinion.

I look at it this way, upgrading is not going to make me money, there are no "magic bullet" feature that is going to make me money in 512. But i feel that upgrading at this point will certainly cost me money, every hour im fixing issues costs me $25-$50 that i could be making elsewhere. So if i need a simple tool, not rocket science but just a simple guage to help me guage what everyone else is doing to help save me money then the poll is worth that to me.

I do appreciate your point of view, thanks for explaining, and my apologies for overreacting as i did.

this is one of the reasons i am in no hurry to upgrade. If Matt cant make his mind up by saying nothing is wrong and then saying to fix and make it working do this, then what chance have we to make our minds up.

What a pointless thread. The vast (99%+) number of threads on the forum discussing the latest release and how terrible it is are becoming tedious. It's really very simple so here's a step by step guide:

1) Get a dev license

2) Carry out the upgrade

3) Check for errors

4) Errors found? Wait for patches.

5) Repeat steps 3) and 4) until it does work

Who give a monkies about when people are planning to upgrade??

this is exactly what i have and have done and even with the current patches issues still appear, so i have no immediate plans to upgrade until this is a working version

Again someone with nothing better to do than to be negative. Maybe you dont care but i guess you dont realize yet that the world does not revolve around you.

openmind is not being negative what he says makes good sense if you rely on WHMCS for your business. If you upgrade a new version onto your production site and it has issues like 5.1.2 currently has, your own customers and your business suffers due to these bugs/errors.

If you have a development licence and install any new version on this and find bugs/issues then this does not cause any issue to your customers/business as its not on the production system. so you can test the dev and work on bugs/issues until this works perfect for you before upgrading to production.

so whats negative about this. i would say it is a positive

This is what is negative, the rest i agree with.

He could have made his point without the negative comments.

yes io agree them comments were uncalled for as i dont see this a pointless thread as it gives users a poll to see when some are thinkinging of upgrading, but i have to agree with others their should of been an "already upgraded" option

Agreed, i also feel the need to mention that of all the reasons i did this probably the main reason is that i dont have an extremely moded version of the WHMCS, its pretty standard, some minor stuff but nothing drastic. I feel with that being the case, any new version should slip into place with little to no issues and i dont feel this is the current status of 512.

I agree the thread is pointless...

Oh im sorry i forgot someone elected you "pointless" king. Thank you "pointless" king for your words of wisdom and your neverending devotion to "pointless" matters around the globe. Holy "pointless" batman its a "pointless" thread, what will we do?

Here is an idea, save your "pointless" comments and the chalk you use for the sidewalk where they belong.

Come on guys there is no need for this arguing... some will find it useful and some wont so lets just leave it at that and be civil.

Personally I am still on V4.5.2 When V5 came out there was multiple problems as well if we all think about it then they seemed to be right by V5.0.3

It was so close to V5.1 being released that I thought I would wait for the new release. Then when it was released I was very disappointed with the problems that was created that worked fine before in the previous version.

I believe that there should be a bug fix release very soon and will more than likely upgrade then after some testing on my dev server.
