Question

I have a hostgator enom account, can you link it so that when i create a domain for my client (im a webdesigner who will buy each domain for them) you can link it to whcms that the user who is paying for the domain can login and see when it needs payment, also i have hostgator reseller account, i want to link whmcs with selling my server to them aswell, can this be done or what is advised the best way?

In my experience HostGator only provide eNom Retail accounts, you'll need an eNom Reseller account in order to use WHMCS. We provide those free of charge from our client area.

Then just read our documentation for configuration instructions: http://docs.whmcs.com/Enom

They seem to make it very hard for whatever reason to get a reseller account. They will always try and persuade you to go with a retail account, I imagine it's due to support costs. However, after a couple of emails they will upgrade the account to a reseller.

I'd recommend contacting WHMCS as they will provide you with a reseller account and better pricing first time.

With a reseller account you simply need to:

1) set it up under setup > domain registrars.

2) Configure your pricing under setup > domain pricing. I'd recommend not selecting the registrar for automation and manually approving each domain order

Once this is done your client's will be able to register/manage/renew their domains from your website.

HG offer reseller at 100dollar deposit which you the person deposits, then when you each domain you buy it uses 3% each time of the 100dollars.

So the 100 dollars is never theirs but yours to use.

Is this correct or am i missing something?

Thanks as i need to be educated on this. I thought hostgator wasnt difficult but Im only new so hence the q's.

If bought domains through whmcs, where do i login to change the namesernvers to my hostgator resller server?

Hello,

That's correct, the deposit is used as credit so ultimately you will make a return.

I'd recommend ignoring the credit figures and looking at the cost. The cost per domain depends on the TLD registered.
