dryline
Why is this happening? I have a eNom reseller account under WHMCS, and here in the last few days, they have been sending out the required ICANN notices to my registered domain name owners as they have in the past, except now instead of going to a generic page that says to contact us if they need to update, it's now going to a WHMCS sales page with all sorts of competing products including hosting, domain name registration and domain protection, enticing our customers to get it through WHMCS. This is not acceptable.
sparky
I got a few of these as well that went to my clients.... I am in the process of doing something up to send to WHMCS. Edited March 25, 2011 by sparky
zomex
This is ridiculous, I'm very disappointed about this!
dryline
I've been very happy with the WHMCS software, but this is completely unacceptable and unworkable. I'm seriously hoping this is unintentional.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted March 26, 2011 WHMCS CEO Share Posted March 26, 2011 This is something Enom has done of their own accord so it's the first we've heard about it - both the emails and the whmcsdomains.com website. It seems the emails went out to a lot of people but Enom's main people don't work weekends so unfortunately looks like we'll be waiting until Monday for an explanation. As soon as we have it, will post it here. UPDATE: Enom's weekend staff have advised they have now disabled the emails and will ask management to look into it and get back to us on Monday. dryline
I got a couple of the update emails tonight, and it was back to the more generic pages like it used to be, with out eNom account name on them. Thanks for getting on that Matt.
WHMCS CEO Matt Posted March 30, 2011 WHMCS CEO Share Posted March 30, 2011 Hi Guys, Enom did get back to us, phoned me infact to explain & apologise for what had happened. Basically as I understand it, in a recent change they made to their system, it introduced a bug in the mail system that caused it to look "up" the channel. As soon as we and others reported it to them, they suspended the emails until it was fixed, which they say it has now been. The way it should, and has worked until this bug, is that any customers of a sub-reseller should get the generic landing page email (branded from you their reseller) as they do not have access to a login ID. Here's Enom's message to everyone affected: Dear WHMCS Users, As soon as a problem was reported we suspended the sending of all WHOIS contact verification notices. We discovered what went wrong and have since fixed the issue. Because we are truly committed to bringing you high quality products and services we have also imposed steps to make sure that a problem like this does not happen again. Thank you for your continued business and loyalty. Kind Regards, Eric Larsen Technical Support Supervisor eNom / Bulk Register Obviously it's an unfortunate situation, but one completely out of our control, and we have been assured it has now been resolved and won't happen again. SilverNodashi
It's for this very reason that I'm moving all my domains away from eNom, after loosing some clients to them. It's pathetic how their morals have dropped.
bear
It's pathetic how their morals have dropped. How is a coding error a moral issue?
PulsedMedia
I believe he has his tin-foil hat on Arguably if a lot of "coincidental" things happen with a company you have to ask yourself.... but mistakes like this happen all the time even to those without malice.
