Greystoke
Hi, I am currently using PayPal with osCommerce, now I also want to add PayPal to WHMCS. IPN is disabled in PayPal as it wasn't need for osCommerce. If I enable IPN in PayPal and add the URL to my WHMCS, will this cause problems when a payment is recieved from osCommerce or from WHMCS. Thanks.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted February 15, 2011 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted February 15, 2011 I think that would be best addressed to osCommerce. It won't cause problems for WHMCS.
Greystoke
What exactly does the IPN do.
RaMMz
It notifies the payment to a custom script that parses the notification. IPN stands for INSTANT PAYMENT NOTIFICATION
Kiwi
This doesn't sound like something that should interfere with either system but how does osCommerce know that you've been paid?
bear
Odds are it would pass the notification back to WHMCS in any sale, but WHMCS would ignore things it couldn't match up to a sale. That is, of course, unless that person exists in the WHMCS database, then it may issue a credit. I think.
GGWH-James
The IPN URL at PayPal doesn't need to be set for WHCMS, it can be anything as WHMCS passes the IPN URL for when it POSTs to PayPal. WHMCS only requires that IPN be enabled and something set for the IPN URL at PayPal; it doesn't matter what it's set to at PayPal, as long as something is configured there. However, how it would need to be configured for osCommerce, I don't recall; it's been some time since I touched osCommerce. If osCommerce doesn't pass the IPN URL when it posts to PayPal, it may need to be set as the IPN URL within PayPal. It really depends upon how osCommerce handles payments from PayPal. You should be able to process payments for more than one Web site to process payments through a single PayPal account. Preferably, they should all pass their respective IPN URLs when POSTing to Paypal. Also, be sure to list all of the Web sites in the business info section as PayPal wants to know the Web sites that you're selling stuff on. bear
The IPN URL at PayPal doesn't need to be set for WHCMS You sure? http://wiki.whmcs.com/PayPal For PayPal invoices to be automatically marked paid when you receive a payment you need to enable IPN inside your PayPal account. This is done in the My Account > Profile > My Selling Preferences > Instant payment notifications.
GGWH-James
You sure?http://wiki.whmcs.com/PayPal Yes, I've spoken with Matt about this awhile back. I actually have another Web site set within PayPal myself and our payments are working just fine.

GGWH-James
Then the docs are incorrect? I wouldn't say that, something does need to be set at PayPal as the Notification URL; it just doesn't particularly matter what it is when it comes to WHMCS. __EDIT__ Check [thread=31913]this thread[/thread] for confirmation from John. Greystoke
Thanks, I'll put it in there. Should I put my WHMCS URL in there or the actual site URL the products are on. Thanks.
