.ca Domains show Unavailable when they're actually Available

Hi,

I just noticed that all .ca domains searched with the domain checker (or during ordering) come up as Unavailable when actually they're available. I went to whois.cira.ca and even other domain registrars and checked that they are indeed available. For example, asdfsdfasdfsdf.ca is available at CIRA and other registrars but not on my site/WHMCS. On my site, it says Unavailable but if you click the WHOIS link it says that it's available. However, you still can't purchase it.

Any ideas? I'd like people be able to search and purchase .ca names.

Thanks!

No, strangely I meant exactly what I wrote :P

You need to update the .ca details in your whoisservers.php

I assumed you meant the update was part of the new version. Could you explain why .ca names are suddenly unvailable? Is this something that happens regularly? The .ca part of whoisservers.php is:

.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.ab.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.bc.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.mb.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.nb.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.nf.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.ns.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.nt.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.on.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.pe.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.qc.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.sk.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

.yk.ca|whois.cira.ca|AVAIL

So what the heck am I supposed to update?

Because CIRA changed their output/format.

Is this something that happens regularly?

Yes, plus which server(s) you check for any given ccTLD/gTLD may differ based on your accreditation, check frequency etc

Install jwhois on your machine and type "whois adomainthatwontexist.ca" an see what it reports :D
