Prorated and PayPal Subscription

Am encountering the following which we find strange and am looking for some advice.


We have all our hosting plans setup to be due on the 1st of each month.


When a customer signs up for one of our plans it prorates the time left - that's perfect. So if they sign up on the 19th, they only pay from the 19th to the last day of the month.


However, when PayPal creates the subscription, it creates it for the full amount and tries to rebill it on the day the client signed up and not on the 1st.


Have we configured something wrong?
