WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted April 8, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted April 8, 2010 As WHMCS reports the emails were sent successfully I recommend checking with your server mail server administrator to find out what's happening to them.

bear
Still having this problem. This appears to be a mail issue and not a WHMCS issue, so what did the server administrator say when you asked?

bear
I'd be curious as to what they respond with. Best thing would be to tail the mail as it's sent. Assuming Cpanel/Exim, log in as root shell, and run: tail -f /var/log/exim_mainlog |grep 'email_address@domain.tld' Substitute the actual email, and then send from WHMCS to that email once it's running. If you get normal sent responses from the MTA, the issue is likely at the receiving end (Google). If it fails to send out, it's a local problem.
moonpeach
Hi Bear , Im on a master reseller package and am not able to login as root shell etc But im totally confused now ,I changed it from PHP to SMTP with the following details: SMTP Port: 25 SMTP Host: mail.allhostone.com SMTP Username: <cpanel login> SMTP Password: <cpanel password> System emails from email: billing@allhostone.com I save that and try and send an email but when i do i get the following error: Email Sending Failed - SMTP Error: The following recipients failed: moonpeachwow@Googlemail.com But if i do: SMTP Port: 25 SMTP Host: mail.allhostone.com SMTP Username: billing@allhostone.com SMTP Password: <email password> System emails from email: billing@allhostone.com I get a different error: Email Sending Failed - SMTP Error: Could not authenticate. So am i right in thinking that the first setting is correct but it couldent send? Edit: Just about to change settings: Setup>General Settings > General tab email address = admin@allhostone.com then in the Mail tab: SMTP Port: 25 SMTP Host: mail.allhostone.com SMTP Username: <cpanel login> SMTP Password: <cpanel password> System emails from email: admin@allhostone.com I then send an email and i get this: Email Sent Successfully to Joshua kility But i go check my inbox and i've got nothing Could possible because its only sending internally and not outernally? or because my email is moonpeachwow@Googlemail.com and not moonpeachwow@googlemail.com ? EDIT AGAIN: Just checked my admin@allhostone.com to find out im getting automatic emails saying it cannot send, Its asif WHMCS is sending but its hitting a brick wall at the server? moonpeach
hmmm...... Theres something really strange happening. I changed it back from SMTP to PHP and sent an email, WHMCS said it successfully sent, I checked my admin@allhostone.com and i got no auto emai lsaying it hadnt sent but i check my inbox+spam and it has not managed to get to my inbox. We also sent a email from admin@allhostone.com to moonpeachwow@googlemail.com + me@vinc.me , It did not send and got an automatic email: The mail server could not deliver mail to moonpeachwow@googlemail.com. The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries. me@vinc.me The mail server could not deliver mail to me@vinc.me. The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries. Could it be possible they are blocking port 25?
bear
Are you able to send any email with the account? I just sent a test and it had no trouble sending to the Google account, but on your server it's not able to find the server, implying the resolvers aren't able to lookup the Gmail server IP (or the other). As for tailing the mail log, ask the host to do so, or go to your WHM and use the email trace function, assuming that's available to you as the "master" reseller. That's not as thorough or revealing, but it may help see if there's a larger issue.
moonpeach
Well i recieved your email which went straight to the spam , Im speaking to the host now who is trying to fix it , they have restarted the servers but that has not helped. ive tried using phpmail and SMTP but does not seem to work, i did a email from admin@allhostone.com to moonpeachwow@googlemail.com and it didnt work
bear
Restarting a server won't normally fix a broken resolver, misconfigured mail program or remove a firewall block. I can't help but wonder if they have any idea what they're doing. Oh, $35.00/year for unmetered everything "master" reseller accounts and one whole year in business. That answers that.

bear
Still getting an issue with it, Host says its fixed when itisnt:... The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries. I have explained the possible causes (there may be others): 1) Bad resolvers 2) Bad Firewall settings 3) Improperly configured MTA This is nothing to do with WHMCS, and rebooting the server or clicking a link to update Cpanel isn't the fix. If they claim it's fixed and it isn't, well, that about says it all for me. It was a bit cheaper for me $17 , DigitalPoint special This explains it far better. <rant> I'm all for you or anyone else striking out and trying their hand in business, but this is absurd. You've chosen a provider that doesn't appear to to know how to run a server properly, and they are charging a ridiculously low price for a whole YEAR (basically, one hour's wage to a fairly decent tech, 15 minutes for a really good one) to support what could amount to hundreds if not thousands of accounts on that server for that entire year. They are obviously overstuffing/overselling the server with insanely underpriced unlimited/unmetered "master reseller" accounts, who will each then overstuff it with equally underpriced unlimited/unmetered resellers, who will also stuff it with unlimited/unmetered shared accounts. Good luck. I think you will need it, as the first major issue will probably have them closing up and leaving you stuck explaining where everyone's sites went.
