jloupe
When I get an order, customers are told the invoice was generated, but not yet paid. Then they have to click on an invoice and pay it. I want the payment to go through automatically. How do I set this up?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted December 20, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted December 20, 2009 Setup > General Settings > Ordering tab. Select "Automatically forward the user to the payment gateway".

rldev
Setup > General Settings > Ordering tab. Select "Automatically forward the user to the payment gateway". How does this work if you are using both Paypal and a separate Merchant account?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 21, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 21, 2010 The client chooses which gateway to use on the orderform; they are directed to the appropriate one.
rldev
The client chooses which gateway to use on the orderform; they are directed to the appropriate one. This is not what I really meant. Supposedly Paypal payments will only be applied if: "Automatically forward the user to the payment gateway" is applied. I see that this is not the case. I do not have: "Automatically forward the user to the payment gateway" selected and the payments are applied with no problem. So I guess I am confused as to what that setting is for? Thanks.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 22, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 22, 2010 That setting has no relevance to payments being applied automatically, it determines where the client is taken after checking out. For example if "Automatically forward the user to the payment gateway" is selected the client will be taken directly to the PayPal website after checkout.

Dare I ask why a host would want to do this?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 22, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 22, 2010 If clients are presented with the payment page they are more likely to complete. If a client has to find the invoice and then click the PayPal button they might get lost and abandon.

If anything, this setting should be configurable per payment module. I could see why someone would want there client to go to Paypal immediately, but I can not see why anyone with a Merchant account would want to go to the Merchant page.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 25, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 25, 2010 Well then it sounds like you have the "Forward to invoice" option selected. Can you explain what you mean by a merchant page?

By Merchant Page I mean the Merchant Gateway page like authorize.net or Quantum Gateway.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 25, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 25, 2010 If you're using a merchant gateway whereby the credit card details are entered on your site then the client won't be taken to the Authorize.net or Quantum websites. They'll be taken to the credit card payment page on your own website.
