License Add-on

webin

Question

I am wanting to buy all this if I can make the license addon produce a single key for a developers product that would allow the developer to use his one key on multiple sites - is that possible? and how?

I played with it but it seems that if the single key is used on a site then it wont work on any other sites....unless I'm doing something wrong

Hi,

Yes you can do that with the licensing addon. You can simply add more than one allowed domain to the license or set the product settings to allow use on any domain and thus not disallow access when the domain isn't in the allowed list for that key.

I want to make sure that all of the domains that are using that license shows up in the KEY lookup - in other words if the product gets out on rapidshare and we find an overnight flood of hundreds of domains listed with that license we want to be able to turn it off....but without all of the domains automatically being added somewhere how would we know?

I've tried "Allow Domain Conflict" and it simply records the first domain only and when I add the key to other sites it works for the site but there is no record of it in my admin.

let me know if I'm missing something but I have searched the wiki and the forums and haven't found a way to produce a record of every site using the developers key - and I got to tell you - that this iis the only way to know if someone is abusing the KEY by leaking it to the public - or say someone like a competitor bought it and stuck it on the internet like rapidshare.

Anyone?

Will multiple domains be recorded somewhere? Or better yet, how can one best check for abuse? Will I get notified if there is a flood of different IPs or domains or do I have to manually check each account periodically to see how if any license has an unusual number of values?

Thanks.

this is old i know but it doesn't look like it was ever answered fully and i too am looking for exactly the same answer.... have pretty much spent past 8 hours testing and searching for the answer...

Even if the key is distributed, as long as you do not set the product/service to ignore domain and/or IP and/or path conflicts, unauthorized attempts to validate will fail. Calls back to the licensing server will show up in the log regardless of whether or not they validate.

this doesnt answer the question though.... it doesnt seem to matter if i toggle any of the conflicts on or off secondary domains wont work? and the logs are not showing up either?

if anyone was able to resolve this i would be super pleased if they could respond with a solution as the documentation doesnt seem to be complete?

thanks in advance

thanks - tried everything i can find plus opened a ticket with support... still waiting for a response...

i can get the licensing to work on my server but as soon as i load the script on a different server tried two different servers it fails???

so different domains same server works fine, different server different domains fails...

i have all the allow conflict ips, domains, paths etc enabled - support suggest i remove those checks from the script which i did but somewhere i am guessing its still logging the ip address and failing it... despite allowing ip conflicts...

this is the only thing holding me up releasing my script - getting frustrated now...

just wanted to add that Matt figured it out.... nothing wrong with the script was user error - i had previously hosted the same domain that was handling the licensing on the non working VPS but hadnt deleted the hosting account after i copied it to the new vps... soon as it was deleted started working as it should!

great product and support - would certainly recommend to any one considering getting this!

cheers
