Product custom fields and "admin only"

Question

I have a product with a custom field and have ticked "Show on Order Form". The custom field shows for clients in /cart.php and administrators in /admin/ordersadd.php.

 

If I tick "Show on Order Form" and "Admin Only", it doesn't show up in either page. As an administrator, I would have to add the order then go back and edit the order to see the custom fields (clientshosting.php).

 

Is this not a bug? It seems to me WHERE adminonly='' should only be included in client-facing pages and ignored in all admin pages.

 

Or, is there another way to make custom fields show in all parts of the admin area but not in the client area ?

Ok, sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm having this same issue. I seemingly can't edit a product's custom fields unless I add the order, then go back in and edit it. There is no way to do it during the order process (and thus actually make it on the invoice).

 

I'd like to be able to add this without it ever showing up on the client site.
