Heya :)

First up - Love the product Matt, the feedback here is intended to help - not as a complaint. There are dozens of good bits in the new upgrade. The look is certainly slicker, the domain registration more thorough and I love the new calendar buttons on the date fields for invoices.

Unfortunately, as is often the case - the bad bits stand out. So, top work and here are the gripes:

1) Unpaid Invoices - In the previous version, you had a link on the LHS to the unpaid invoices, and also totalled them. This was a fantastic way of seeing instantly how much was outstanding. The new version not only does not have this on the main screen, but I can't find it anywhere in reports, listings etc. Can we have it back ? (I know there is an aged invoices report, but it doesn't count unpaid and not overdue invoices)

2) Client Passwords - After dozens of requests for passwords, I have included the client login details for our client area in the email template that is sent when a invoice is generated and reminded. Now, (I presume for security reasons ?) the password is masked with "dots". This kinda defeats the purpose. Can we have the passwords unmasked ?

3) Quick Search Function This bit is one of the best features in WHMCS and I use it dozens of times in a day. BUT - with the upgrade, it seems that the page must be current for it to work! Now, if I let the browser window sit for a while, it seems to time-out and then the search function does not work. To work around this, I need to refresh the page prior to each search. Frustrating.

4) Invoice Layouts I can't remember what the previous layout was exactly - but a handy feature that I used previously was in several of the invoice listings (say, list all invoices) I could easily copy & paste the table data to a spreadsheet for further processing. This is handy when you want to analyse some data, but don't want to go to the trouble of creating a report. BUT - with the new version it counts the invoice totals as text fields - making any analysis impossible. I think it is the addition of the text "AUD" in my listings. Adding the currency simply changed the interpretation from a number field to a text field. Trimming the text has no effect in OO, and I have lost a valuable function. The currency doesn't really matter at this stage surely - do we really need it?

5) Support Ticket Flags - we are starting to use the support tickets and that is working well. One thing we have noticed however is that once a ticket is flagged to a particular person, no one else can view it at all! Can we have an option to at least see tickets flagged to others - this means we can at least process the ticket when that staff member is away.

Hope this helps !

Cheers,

:)RR

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. In response:

1. The reason for this is that not all invoices are now in the same currency but a per currency summary has been added for 4.1

2. An option to enable/disable MD5 hashing passwords will be available in 4.1 although not recommended.

3. Your session must be timing out so you become logged out & that requires the page refresh to update your session. No way around that.

4. You can still do that. After copying to Excel just do a search/replace for AUD to strip it from the fields.

5. There is an admin role permission for this which you can enable/disable in Setup > Admin Roles.

Hi there Matt,

Thanks for that - like I said, great product mate :) In reply to your reply ;)...

1) Looking forward to your per-currency summary. It's a great quick business-health check to look at your outstandings, plus your bank-balance. If both are low you know you are in trouble!

2) I don't quite understand why the password field is included as an option in the email templates if it ends up being masked. If it is only getting sent to the invoice contacts for the client, then it shouldn't really be a secret to them.

3) Nope - I am not getting logged out, and it definitely worked previously. All our staff are having issues with this one, and between us we have tried chrome, opera, firefox and (ughhh) IE7. You are definitely the guru on that one, but you had it working before, and now it doesn't. Happy to work with you if you want a tester.

4) Aha - nice one. Tried, worked, fixed. Top stuff. I guess I owe you a beer!

5) Bloody Fantastic - found that option, ticked the box. Top stuff mate. I had assumed that an administrator would have access to that and didn't even look. Guess I owe you another beer for that one ;)

Cheers,

Robert.

Hi Roborutt,

I can confirm that the quick search works perfectly for me and I stay logged into WHMCS all day, as do my staff . In fact its better that V3.x (faster and more accurate) So as Matt indicated , it sounds like a local issue to your Network .

The password is only displayed in the client area password reminder email when the client requests a new password. In all other templates it will be masked because there's no way to decrypt it form the database.

Hi there John,

I don't really understand this one. .. so you are saying that the WHMCS software can decrypt the password when the client triggers and email, but not when an admin triggers an email ?

As the user is not authenticating when triggering a password reminder, I can't see how there is any new information (for the WHMCS software) when a client requests a password as opposed to when an admin/automation sends an email.

Also - why is there a "insert password" field in the email templates (if it just sends out a mask "********" ?

I am not a programmery guru, but it doesn't sounds right to me ;)

Still love my WHMCS though!

The password is reset and sent before/at the same time as encryption.
