How do you handle refunds?

This is really a 'how are you handling this' question and the answer will depend if you company offers refunds on your services.

If a client cancels and chooses the end of period option we don't have any issues as there is no refund due. If the pick immediate, however, we owe then a refund for the un-used time. Right now we have a small spreadsheet that is doing the calculation. I was just wondering how others handle this.

Unless I'm totally missing something WHMCS does not handle this at all so it has to be manually done.

TIA

Hello John,

We offer a money back guarantee as well as offering refunds. I know some companies do not do it but not offering a refund if you signed up for a quarter or year just does not seem 'fair'.

However, the question was not really if WHMCS did it (we think it should) but how other companies handle and calculate the refund.

Hi

We offer a 7 day Money Back Guarantee after that period their is no refunds. If a client signs up for an annual plan and pays and then cancels after 1 month etc, then it is their lose, although with a canclled annual plan, if it is cancelled within the first 3 months, then if they were to take our hosting with us again within 1 month then they wont be charged for the remaining period of the 12 months.

we work on a contract basis, so anyonew taking hosting are signing up to a min. 12 months, and if they cancel hosting within 12 months then depending on the circumstances they can be charged for the remaining period of the 12 month.
