Recurring Invoices: How does it work?

I have multiple monthly recurring invoices on Products I have created. Today I noticed they were not automatically being generated and sent out to clients on the day they become due. So I hit the Generate Invoice button and it generated 11 or so invoices some of which are not even due yet? Is this normal behavior?

Can anyone explain their experiences with this? I will note it did not generate invoices out past what would become due in a 7 day period from what I can see. Shouldn't the product automatically review each day what needs to be sent out to clients and then process it at that time? I don't want to invoice my clients before they are due. Thanks in advance for any assistance as I am a bit worried about this.

Right I think you could be correct. While billable items does seem to make more sense now it's possibly my cron is not running. :(

However is there a difference between what the cron does and the Generate Invoices button does. I was shocked to see it generate invoices that were not due yet?

I'm going to verify that cron is working as expected.

yeah I just added the cron and got an email from the system it did a bunch of stuff. Including trying to suspend services lol. I suppose that cron runs daily correct I can't seem to find it in crontab.
