Digger
I've looked everywhere- how do I change the default currency from USD? Most of my clients pay in GBP and I have everything priced that way as based in the UK. Thanks,
Gemster
Look in "Setup>>Currency" there you will find the default curreny set to USD. Just change this to GBP and your set Thanks Gemster
Digger
Hi, I'm afraid to say on my install I don't! Under Set up - Currencies, I can add new currencies and remove those I don't want but not change the default - that is where I would expect to see it. I'm running version 4.0.0 Digger

Digger
Have done - can set default country and default language but not default currency. Am I missing something? I have them set to United Kingdom and Currency, but setup -> currencies still shows USD as the default or base currency. Sudden thought are we menat to change / edit that entry in setup ->currencies to reflect the currency we want as the base then add the others? Really doesn't seem very clear.
Digger
The way I seem to have got it to work (not finished testing yet) is to go into settings -> currencies, edit the settings for the currency that show as base conv rate to be 1.0000 to match your currency then add the other currencies. The only problem I found with that was I had to change some of my clients currency settings back to GBP (the base I wanted) as I had added GBP as an additional currency which I then changed to USD. Hope that helps - as I say not fully tested yet.

Accordingly, the first currency must have a default of 1.00. Don't set any financial values for the other currencies you add. They will be automatically inserted when you click on the left-hand 'Update Exchange Rates button' and be up-to-date. Important! If you then click the right-hand button, 'Update Product Prices', all of your WHMCS prices will be updated system wide so be sure that you want to do this because it is not easily undone except manually. redrat
I forgot to add that, after you begin adding the other currencies the right-hand most delete button disappears to indicate which is the default one and then you know this is the base reference for conversions.
inyerface
I'm not sure if anyone needs what I need but here it goes: It would be great if we can just chang ethe default currency from that point on only and leave everything else in tact. For example, we recently offered our Canadian clients an option to pay in Canadian dollars and when we started switching people over we saw that all their invoices were changed to CAD screwing up their records. So the same goes for changing default currency. If we could change the defaul for all future orders leaving exisiting accounts alone then I'd be a very happy user. Thanks.
jeffa
Just an FYI on how I did this.. 1. View the USD one, and change the USD to AUD and the code to AUD then press save. 2. Add a new one called USD and code USD with the $ prefix. Now you should see that your USD one has the red X with it, and your aussie one, or what ever default you made on FYI: 1 should be default. 3. Hit update exchange and should reflect your new correct rate.
inyerface
What did you do about exisitng accounts with USD. If you verify this you will see they have now been changed to AUD. This is my problem right now.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted July 13, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted July 13, 2009 There's nothing for it but to manually adjust all the invoices, transactions, product prices etc...for those customers.

By the way, I had two currencies MXN and USD, USD being the default one. when I tried to delete MXN tomake the changes, It prompted me with an error saying I cant delete currencies being used by clients.. so I had to go to my client´s profile >profile, and change MXN to USD. Then I deleted the MXN currency and edited the USD currency to be the new MXN currency and thus making MXN as the default currency, I then created USD currency. When I checked my clients account.. it was set to MXN not USD, so I guess that would be a problem with people with lots of clients. I guess it would be better to have USD as a default unchangable currency, but be able to change the default currency of your site when you add more than one without having to edit the USD currency, that way your existing clients wont be affected by editing ID # 1 which is USD. I hope I explained myself lol.
Diesel
Sorry, I'm coming to this discussion late. I currently have 4 currencies with USD as the default. I want to make ZAR the default currency. I can see how to do this, BUT what will this do to the pricing of my products and existing invoices if I click "Update Product Prices"? Will I have to change the pricing of those products to what they should be in ZAR before I change the default currency? In other words, if I have a product that costs US$100, currently billing as ZAR700 (on forex), should I change the pricing of the product to $700 first and then change the default currency to ZAR? Will this make it ZAR700 on the system and will all existing invoices stay at what they were originally?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted September 28, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted September 28, 2010 It doesn't matter which order you do it in, but you will need to change the primary currency and update the product pricing. Existing invoices and the price your current customers pay will remain the same amount, only the currency will change.
Diesel
Thanks John. So is it safe to say the numbers on invoices don't change, just the symbols (but only if you change a client's chosen currency)? So if Mr X is paying $100 for a product now, he will still be paying $100 after I change the default currency, but that Dollar price will fluctuate based on movement against my new default currency? If that's right then I feel a lot more confident making the change!
