Will one license work on a domain and subdomain? Or?

moonslice

Question

We need to have cheaper hosting prices for all the non-profits we now specialize in (prices the main public can't see). we thought maybe the best way to do this was to have the shopcart in 2 different places on the website.

1) How does the whmcs license work? Is it tied to a domain name specifically, and then if it is for moonslice.com it would also work with moonslice.com/nonprofits? But then it might be hard to keep both sets of people from seeing the other.

2) Or better yet could it be tied to the server path - eg: /web/moonslic/public_html? and in that case i guess we would create an add-on domain called nonprofits.com or something, and then would the license still work with /web/moonslic/public_html/nonprofi ?

We are not trying to cheat and use for two separate businesses. What would you guys suggest would be the best way that non-profits see only their pages and public see only their cart pages? (without having to buy 2 licenses)

Thanks!

1 license is valid for 1 installation only. If you have an installation that operates in yourdomain.com/whmcs and a subdomain whmcs.yourdomain.com which is the same installation then the license will allow that.

If you're just trying to display different products depending on where the user comes from then it would be recommended to use a product group for each set of products and then link directly to the relevant product group from each of your sites.
