Si
Hi, I am being hit (probably by some sicko past customer) who is repeatedly ordering domains and hosting accounts under different names and is bypassing anti-fraud measures I have in place. I'm able to go to enom and cancel the domains after they have been registered but it's becoming a pain. It would be much easier for me to simply have all new domains registered only when I have approved them. I thought this could be done, but I can't, for the live of me, find the setting to enable it. (Or disable auto registration). Can anyone help? Thanks Si
striddy
Configuration > Domain Pricing >Automatic Registration > None From the wiki: Should you wish to not have new domain registration requests submitted automatically but instead wait for you to manually verify and accept the order then you should leave the automatic registrar setting set to None. easyhosting
also block this users IP address as most likely he will be using the same computer, so blocking the IP address, should prevent anyone on this IP from ording from your site. another thing to do is use the IP address and one one the IP address convert sites to pinpoint the ISP for this address and report this to them. they all have terms that warn users not to do things like this. I had a similar experience with an ex customer, who ignored invoices etc. so i had to take him to court to get my money all of a sudden strange orders were arrearing i blocked the IP address, these stopped, but then I was getting bombardied with emails (over 500 a day). I reported this user to their ISP, who at first would not do anything about it without specific things like email headers etc., but this user was using a contact form from my site rather that direct emails to me, so headers were not good, but I had all the IP logs, still they would not do anything until i informe3d them that this user was breaching their own terms and if they did nothing I would report them and have them closed down, within days these problems stopped.
Si
Hi Terry, I do all of that, as standard (and more). They are on dynamic IP's which doesn't help. They use a certain UK mobile phone company to connect through a mobile dongle I suspect. (WHO ARE TOTALLY USELESS it has to be said and who I've been in touch with through email, phone, (numerous depts) live chat and more and had absolutely no joy from them). They don't even have an abuse dept. I'm not going to name them so I don't encourage other fraudsters from using their services, but OFCOM is a joke, and the mobile phone operators are a joke (at least in the UK) regarding this type of thing. I literally watch this person on my site, I'm on the phone with the company who are supplying them with their internet connection and absolutely diddly squat is done. SO FRUSTRATING. easyhosting
If the ISP or datacentre will not do anything and refuse to do anything then report these to ICANN as ICANN issue the IP numbers, which if an IP number is being used in an inappropriate manner then the person/company that was issued with this number has a duty to investigate and take action against the abuser under ICANN rules.
