cafreamoroso
Ater receiving two warnings from this so called moderator called Bear i have decided to leave the whmcs community. This guy is crazy if he thinks i come here to make money. i have never spammed in my life and still received two warnings. One member asked for help in a very easy nature theme i told him i could help him, i don't do stuff free as this is time spent in the computer that contributes for my back pain. Anyway. thanks for everything. I'm leaving now. My Warnings: http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?p=83120 First Warning: http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?p=70076 in that one it was just silly he asked for an anti virus...i told him we use xxxxx and i still got a warning. Maybe a Forum Board for posting whmcs jobs will be the best opportunity, as there are a lot of newcomers that come here asking for help, but we are restricted to this non sense... of moderation... i mean it's not the dark ages everyone can post a job in any forum board about whmcs, but this is the whmcs gettogether.. why go somewhere else..? I hate to say good bye. Good bye. Edited November 30, 2008 by cafreamoroso
apollo1
Can you post a link to your thread where you were given warning for? I am sorry to hear you are upset with a moderator. I have seen cases personally where some moderators (in general) come across a little too strong. I think WHMCS helpers/mods need to be extra mindful that there are paying and loyal WHMCS customers in this forum, and it is not good to see customers leave because they feel they were treated unfairly by a moderator. Maybe if you post a thread we can get some input form other members to see if they feel you were treated fairly or not.
apollo1
Anyone know if Bear is one of the people employed by Matt to provide WHMCS support, or is he strictly a moderator here?
handsonwebhosting
Sorry to hear that you'll be leaving (or not posting) on the forums as user feedback is critical in the growth of a company/product. Hopefully you'll continue to use the software and provide feedback to Matt via email or some other method. Custom jobs are deleted as WHMCS provides these custom jobs themselves. That's the reason the offer to do the work by you was removed. The other item (with the virus scanner) - the link that you provided, was it a referral link? I see the name of the virus scanner remained, and the portion in front was removed. Was it potentially a referral link and you were being paid on the backend? If so, I can see why that would be removed too. Edited November 30, 2008 by handsonwebhosting
herpherp
Advertising and/or self promotion are against the forum rules, we must all follow so not sure why you think you should be treated any different...
cafreamoroso
Advertising and/or self promotion are against the forum rules, we must all follow so not sure why you think you should be treated any different... i wasn't advertising or selling anything... these people asked for very especific things, they asked for help. bear
One member asked for help in a very easy nature theme i told him i could help him For a fee, which makes it advertising. "i can easily accomplish the task 18 dllars per hour." This guy is crazy if he thinks i come here to make money. And yet, the two posts you received alerts for were just that, to make money. in that one it was just silly he asked for an anti virus...i told him we use xxxxx and i still got a warning. [EDIT] Found the infraction, in my PM archive: "we use, recommend and sell sophos antivirus" That appeared to be leading someone to contact you about buying. [/EDIT] we are restricted to this non sense Matt, the owner of both the board and WHMCS, decided that there would be no advertising of any sort here. I'm only following his wishes. Anyone know if Bear is one of the people employed by Matt to provide WHMCS support, or is he strictly a moderator here? I'm just a moderator/admin on the forum, as it says under my username. Any particular reason?

hightekhosting
Guess you just can't please everyone. We've never had a run in with Bear, nor do we expect to. Why? Because this is a community forum where we share information, not advertising pitches to people about our products and services. Like Steve, our signatures speak for themselves. If anyone is interested in what we have to offer, they click our sig links. We have no need to self promote or advertise and nor should anyone else. The old saying goes "built it and they will come"....not "build it and force them to come"....it simply doesnt work that way and only ends up with **** like this starting. Cheers, Dale

DeadBeet
Bear comes from WHT (webhostingtalk.com) they are very strict with their rules and it's good, and needed to help a community keep their members in line! He does a great job, and although I have a fair number on warnings/alerts or whatever you wish to call them, I always see why I got warned/alerted when it comes to Bear issuing the warning. handsonwebhosting
<<snipped>> <<snipped>> <<snipped>> And <<snipped>> for the <<snipped>> <<snipped>> hehe We all need our hands slapped every now and then. It's no different than a dog peeing on the carpet. Once or twice and they don't do it again (they still pee, just not where they had been). bear
When bears attack, eh? Since it would appear the OP isn't interested in discussing this, it must be time to close it. If anyone else (or the OP) feels they've been unfairly moderated, by all means contact me via PM. I'd be completely willing to explain my actions. Alternately, open a thread here: http://forum.whmcs.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35 Only staff and you can see the posts. Still unhappy? You could always complain to Matt himself, but we'd appreciate if that was the last resort as he's quite understandably busy working on WHMCS. On a personal note, thank you for all your comments and insight into this, those that took the time to respond.
