Possible deprecation of Whois services after January 28, 2025 ?!?!

On ICANN I could not find anything about this supposed deadline of January, 28...
 

Does anyone know more about this?
Is this just an isolated initiative by domaintools?
What is the possible impact on WHMCS?

100% click-bait. You know the registries will not disable whois overnight due to the obvious and immediate impact it would have on registrations.
