snake
I have my own user in whmcs, where I have my own sites setup and which I use as a testing account for testing addons and services etc. When I try to use "login as owner" on this account, it crashes WHMCS. IT will hang, the page will never load, and whmcs will become completely unresponsive and nothing will load, not on the backend or frontend and it will stay broken. Nothing in the WHMCS logs or server/php logs to indicate what the issue is. Yet if I try to "Login as owner" on another user, it works fine. The issue somehow seems to be session/cookie related. If I delete my cookies or use an incognito window/another browser after WHMCS has become unresponsive, then I can access WHMCS again. But the same issue happens every single time I use "login as owner", even from incognito or a different browser.

It works fine on our site. It sounds like it may be related to the configuration of your server.
snake
As clealry stated above, it happens only on 1 specific user. So since you do not have this user on your site, how could you test/replicate this on your own site? There is no configuration that has been done that would cause "login as owner" to only not work on 1 specific user. Are you able to login to this users account at yourdomain.com/clientarea.php ? Just trying to help even though I've never seen this issue before.
Bigol'tastynuggets
Check it's not the issue others were facing with it being tied to multiple user accounts that then changed their details - which apparently affects them all. Whmcs can be kind of stupid.... sorry I mean innovative like that! It may well just be that it forgot which customer was which. Feature, not a bug.
snake
after further testing, I have discovered that the issue only occurs on any user that has an ACTIVE hosting package. It does not happen on users that have other NON HOSTING related products/services. I mostly sell non hosting related products, thus why I was not able to re-produced on all the other users I tested. It also does not occur if the hosting products is CANCELLED or TERMINATED.
Bigol'tastynuggets
That's interesting actually, I was referring to the client/user system that was (is) a total disaster imo But it sounds like something completely different to the feature I was thinking of! I do hope you get it sorted, what version are you using?
snake
turns out it was one of my addons, was having a problem connecting to the cpanel API, which was causing this issue. why it needed to conenct to the cpanel API when I login is a mystery
