7 decent questions :)

Chad

Question

Greetings and happy new years :)

1. I'm using Modernbill v4.4 latest. What does your importer *not* import from MB? Does it import all the invoices, invoice details, history, packages PLUS their add-ons, etc? Please be as precise and detailed about this as its very important in my decision making. Does it import credit card / paypal info, etc?

2. What notable features does whmcs NOT have that Modernbill v4 have, or at least in your view as the creator what certain features does WHMCS *have* that stands out and apart from MB?

3. Would you be willing to create a simple network monitoring module for me integrated within the billing system? I want something that has both admin and client side interface with ability to monitor unlimited ports as configured by the admin, not the client (ping, http, ssl, pop, etc).

4. I think its safe to say that if I install the trial and choose to buy, I can just apply the paid license on the same installed trial?

5. Do you have any major upcoming releases / updates? Would you be kind enough to show me a preview or changelog? Thank you.

6. Maybe I'm blind, but I tried your admin demo and I was unable to find out how to : generate new invoices, generate batch, run batch.

7. In your admin demo > product addons I was a bit confused on something. I created a test package under dedicated/vps called "Box 3". Now say I want to add IP upgrade options of 8, 16, 24, 32, 64 and 128. I have to create one at a time in the product addons options? That's what I perceived. I hope I'm wrong anyway. I was also trying to test the order form for that product, http://demo.whmcs.com/order.php?step=2&pid=7 but it just would not go past the first "continue" process. Is this a demo limitation?

Anything you want to warn me about or clarify with the MBv4 to WHMCS Switch?

I have never used modernbill so I will not be able to answer some of the questions, but some I can.

1. Never used MB

2. Never used MB

3. You will need to put in a ticket with support and see what they say.

4. You can update just the key once the free trial is done.

5. Have a look here - http://dev.whmcs.com You will be able to see anything that is in the works for later versions, changelogs, etc.

6. This is on the front page of your login. Just run the "Generate Invoices".

7. Not sure.

I hope that answers some of your questions. You are sure to get a lot more replies here with great answers. I would definitely download the demo and try it out for yourself.

Our import script for MB imports Packages, Servers, Clients, Hosting Accounts, Domains, Invoices & Transactions. Addons are not imported. As part of our professional import service, we can import credit card info for clients aswell but you cannot do this yourself.

Regarding your network monitoring module requirements, as suggested by others that will need to be discussed via a support ticket as a custom development.

Can't disclose information about what we've got coming up but if you take a look at the history, you'll see releases are frequent and the new features are what's requested and things the majority find very useful.

For the 3 things you can't see how to do:-

> Creating a one time invoice -> Clients Summary > Quick Links > Create Invoice

> Generating a Batch/Running Batch -> Admin Homepage > Attempt CC Payments (though the cron does this automatically each day so you wouldn't normally be doing it manually)

For any questions specific to your changeover and custom import/development needs, etc... open a ticket and we can discuss the options.

You would use configurable options on the package for #7 - not addons. Addons can't be imported in a generic way due to the fundamental differences between how MB and WHMCS handles them. They can only be imported with a custom importer designed for your specific setup.

Yes. It will also import unpaid invoices that have long been suspended/terminated (because Modernbill doesn't cancel the invoices once an account is terminated). We got a few emails from perplexed ex-customers when this happened. Just be sure to delete the really old invoices after importing.

When you say really old invoices, are you basically referring to invoices that are due and assigned to terminated accounts, rendering the due invoice useless? If so, how do I "tidy" up the database and delete these due invoices assigned to closed accounts?
