Is there an existing/highly recommended backup solution that would allow us to offer clients an automated offsite backup solution for their accounts?

or even something that can be integrated with whmcs and allow us to manage backup of the the whm from within whmcs?

how does it work? does it backup the whole home and database?

Yes, probably, otherwise  it would make no sense to have a partial unrecoverable website.

I'm not using it but you might check their website on how it works. I assume you give it access to your server account and then it just copies files, and also dumps the databases, then transfers it to their remote backup storage, plus many other things it probably makes required for proper backups and data consistency.
