What is the idea for two different email templates for payment

hasn't it always been like that? I know that's not a reason, just an observation. 🙂

maybe it's for simplicity - they could have just used one template and then added loads of conditionals inside it to customise the output depending on the gateway... perhaps they thought it would be easier for user to customise separate credit card and other gateway templates.

you could always edit the templates so that they match and then there would be no difference.... that said, i'm surprised they're seeing the cc templates if they haven't added one, or selected it as a payment option.
