Add New Order vs Billable items

Newby question: seems a bit confusing to me as a new user, what is the difference between adding a new service or adding a billable item. Assuming a product has already been set up on recurring monthly billing cycle would it make any diofference whether its set up either way?

If it's going to be recurring, you probably want 'add new order (service)'

as @twhiting9275 suggests, unless you have a situation where you need to use Billable Items, i'd recommend using Add New Order...
