Shady Order - received a random hosting order ID via paypal, but the invoice is unpaid.

I'm currently not advertising my hosting so there shouldn't be ANYONE that would know about it (even though its technically publicly available.)

 

The user has not verified the email.

The order is marked as pending.

The invoice is marked as unpaid.

 

I realize this is *, but how on earth was this user able to register through the cart and purchase a pending order without the paypal transaction going through?

I have it set to "redirect to payment gateway"

SO I don't understand how he was able to make a pending order after the redirect if paypal didn't receive the funds??

 

EDIT: FYI the order is from brazil...

If this is legit, would it be left unpaid because I haven't added multiple currency?

That is normal since the order and invoice have to be created at WHMCS before it is paid at paypal and since that can take a few more minutes, WHMCS does not cancel out the order when not paid. Now if you mean you got a paypal payment from this person and the invoice didn't get paid, that can happen if they did a direct payment and not following the payment link on the order page. If that is the case, does the paypal payment show the invoice number? If so, could be a setting issue within paypal or whmcs paypal module for the callback .

Based off your post, are you saying he basically "Initiated" a order up until the payment gateway but did not proceed?

(Thus it may forever be in limbo as a pending order since its likely the gateway page expired after a certain amount of time?)

it can be simple enough to find your website and WHMCS cart if they were specifically looking for your site... alternatively, because you're using a branded license, perhaps they simple found you via that... who knows:?:
