2 Free Months After paying for third month first.

I setup 2 months free with instructions here. the instructions said only monthly orders can set this up (forgot were I got them I think the Docs about a year ago). I got an order today and the person ordered with the Promotion code I setup for the free 2 months. they got the invoice and it said 0.00 Due and no Payment for the first month.

Thats fine if I was offering first 2 months free then on the third month they can pay for hosting. But if I do that I will get all the spammers that get 2 months free to spam and abuse the account.

To cut down on that I would like to offer the free 2 months after they pay for the third month up front.

How can I do that. I checked the add on section and found only abandoned mods and none that would do it.

Anyone know of a add on free or commercial that can take care of that?

couldn't you just add a setup fee that is the equivalent of the 3rd month ?

you might need to change it to 3 free months, so they aren't charged twice for month 3 - and possibly modify the language files too with overrides..

order -> charged setup fee for month 3

month 1 -> free

month 2 -> free

month 3 -> free (already paid for)

month 4 -> invoicing kicks in as normal.

That doesn't solve pay for the third month before getting the 2 months free. they will see setup fee and cancel

thanks

I will give it a try but I feel there should be a dedicated option within WHMCS to offer months free after first payment

I just realized something I would have make up 3 new products with setup fees in order to do this. so now I would have 6 products for 3 options Too Messy

yes it does - they'll be charged the setup fee immediately.. that's the charge for month 3 already in the bank. :)

which is why I said to use language overrides - you change the term "setup fee" to something else (or remove it). :idea:

I don't get why you would need 3 new products... :?:

Brian can you walk me through setting this up?

WHMCS John's reply in your original thread is still basically correct...

I think recurring should be set to 2, and you need to add a setup fee to the product...

I have decided instead of using a setup fee that will show on non 2 month free new accounts even with a language change for setup fee. I did also add the recurring 2 times as you suggested I will invoice from Paypal the third month fee before I setup the account.

thanks for all the help
