Cpanel integration with WHMCS and Mail routing settings in DNS

We don't use cpanel for email hosting, but each time we provision a new domain, we always have to go into WHM and edit the DNS zone to set the mail routing settings to 'remote mail exchanger' so that cpanel will look to external DNS. I can find no way to set this as default or to configure it through WHMCS.

 

Usually cpanel will default to 'automatically detect' but we've seen this be hit and miss so we always default to 'remote mail exchanger', so that mail flow follows DNS and not trying to deliver internally for website generated emails.

 

(background, we also never use cpanel for DNS, so this setting usually only affects emails generated by the website, contact forms, etc)

Hi,

There isn't an option for this in WHMCS. Perhaps cPanel/WHM has an option to change the default DNS Settings for new accounts on their side?

Checked for that first and there is no option we can find. Don't know if there is a hook in the API, but maybe you guys want to consider that as part of your cpanel integration since you're part of cpanel now?
