wdele
Hi there, I have a little problem. I use eNom as domain registrar and currently I'm satisfied but there's one issue I am having: I want to be able to offer users who register a domain name DNS management, but I want users who buy a hosting package + domain name to be able to manage their DNS in cPanel. So what should happen, is that when a domain name without a hosting package is bought, the default nameservers for that domain name should be the ones from eNom. But when a domain name + hosting package is bought, the default nameservers should be set to mine. Is this possible and if so, how? Thanks!
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted November 7, 2014 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted November 7, 2014 Hi, This is how WHMCS works as standard. You'd enter the eNom DNS servers under Setup > General Settings > Domains tab. When a domain + hosting is ordered then the nameservers from Setup > Products/Services > Servers > Edit are used instead.

But how would customers be able to manage their DNS @ eNom?

WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted November 10, 2014 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted November 10, 2014 Hi, If clients select the "DNS Management" option when registering a domain, or a member of staff can tick it later under the client's Domains tab. There will be a DNS management option under the domain details page within their client area.

I'm wondering if eNom's DNS service for domains is free- it's a bit awkard to ask for a fee from customers for DNS management at eNom as many competitors offer this for free.

When I only purchase a domain, the domain is registered @ eNom with the nameservers set at Setup -> General Settings -> Domains. However, when I purchase hosting + domain name the domain is registered at eNom, but the nameservers are empty (so no nameservers are set at all). What am I doing wrong?
DS-Dennis
I would prefer to set the default nameservers at the registrar setup as different tld's may be registered through different registrars (Setup => Product/Services => Domain Registrars). So instead of a global setting it would be ideal to make this depended per domain registrar module the tld was registered at. I guess this is a feature request. - - - Updated - - - I searched and it was already been requested: https://requests.whmcs.com/responses/setting-default-dns-for-each-registrar Edited November 24, 2014 by DS-Dennis Make hyperlink clickable

Make sure your name servers are set for the server that the ordered hosting account is provisioning to. This is done under Setup > Products/Services > Servers. Edit the server in question and supply the name sever values. This is where WHMCS pulls the name servers from when registering the domain. - - - Updated - - - Hi, Thanks for your answer. It is not free, though it is fairly cheap. If you want free, you could offer a hosting account (provisioned to a server via your hosting panel) that only has DNS hosting enabled. This would be instead of the eNom DNS Management option.

I have contacted eNom and according to them it is free if the domain is registered with them.
