Just received this few minutes ago.

Dear MaxMind Customer,

MaxMind is discontinuing its Telephone Verification Service. The last day to purchase this service is September 30, 2014. Access to Telephone Verification Service ends on December 31, 2014.

Time to start looking for a new service. Any idea's?

They did announce they would terminate this but the actual date was not announced until very recently.

WHMCS dodes support another alternative being: http://docs.whmcs.com/VariLogiX_FraudCall

VariLogiX has not worked for some time and they have not updated their site since 2009. I do have an account with them but have not been able to access it forever.

I had a long discussion with them. First of all, they where always just reselling the services from Telesign. That may be one of the reasons...

I was actually using Telesign when I used an older billing system. Then Telesign said they would charge a minimum of 100$ per month so I started to use the phone verification from Maxmind, which again like I said, was just resold from Telesign.

It seems they will end this at the end of this year and to be honest I'm a bit sad as well because phone verification is a real deterrent and solution to avoid fraud. Phone verification is annoying and with Maxmind and WHMCS you could really achieve a balance of not to use it always but only for orders which you suspect fraud. This means only use the phone verification if an order was tagged with a specific score.

Its actually strange that nobody else besides Telesign offers this, since the solution is very simple. Telesign just uses external voip providers to make the calls and its not rocket science either. Phone verification with maxmind was really a good combination. I suspect some users will even stop using maxmind if this option is not available anymore.

We're using OnVerify; since receiving an e-mail from MaxMind about them discontinuing their phone verification.

OnVerify rates can be found at:

We still use MaxMind, but in conjunction with OnVerify phone verification.
